Pomme is a calorie and macro tracking app. This policy explains what data we collect, where it is stored, and how it is processed when you use the app.
1. WHO WE ARE
The developer and publisher of Pomme ("we", "us", "our") is responsible for this policy.
Contact: hallerappsinfo@gmail.com
Website: https://www.hallerapps.com
2. DATA WE COLLECT
You do not need to create an account. Most data stays on your device.
Data you provide:
- Profile: name, age, biological sex, height, current and target weight, activity level, goal, weekly pace, diet preference, and food restrictions
- Diary: meals, portions, calories and macros, water logs, weight entries, and custom foods
- Meal photos (camera or gallery) and meal description text
- Barcode scans and food search queries
- AI coach questions
- Preferences: theme, measurement units, reminder settings
Data generated by the app:
- Weekly free-scan count, streak, and Pro subscription status
- On-device diagnostic/event logs (not sent to a third-party analytics platform)
- Google Play billing and device identifiers when you purchase or restore a subscription
We do not currently collect email, precise location, contacts, microphone audio, or advertising IDs.
3. WHERE DATA IS STORED
On device: diary, profile, goals, water/weight logs, preferences, and meal images in app-private storage (Room, DataStore, app files).
Backup: if Android backup is enabled, some app data may be backed up to your Google account according to your device settings.
Sent off-device: only when needed to provide a feature you request (see below).
4. MEAL PHOTOS AND AI
Photos stay on your device until you start a scan. If you analyze a photo or describe a meal, a compressed image and/or the description is sent to Google Gemini / Firebase AI. Diet preference and declared restrictions may be included as context. If you use the nutrition coach, your question and that day's macro summary are also sent.
Estimates are approximate. Review them before saving. Pomme is a wellness tool, not a medical diagnosis or treatment system.
5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Google (Gemini API and Firebase AI): meal analysis and coach replies, subject to Google's privacy policy.
Firebase (App Check / reCAPTCHA and Firebase SDK): app-integrity signals to reduce abuse of AI features.
Open Food Facts: packaged-food barcode lookup. The barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts.
Google Play: installs, subscriptions, restores, and refunds follow Google Play billing rules.
These providers may process data under their own policies, including outside your country.
6. PERMISSIONS
Camera: meal photos and barcode scanning (optional).
Internet: AI analysis, barcode lookup, Firebase, and subscriptions.
7. HOW WE USE DATA
- Calculate calorie/macro goals and display your diary
- Provide AI meal estimates and coach suggestions
- Enforce the free weekly scan limit and manage Pro
- Operate, debug, and secure the app
We do not sell your data to advertising networks. The app is ad-free.
8. LEGAL BASES (GDPR / SIMILAR LAWS)
Where those laws apply:
- Contract: providing the app you chose to use
- Legitimate interests: security, abuse prevention, basic diagnostics
- Consent: camera access, optional reminders, and sending photos to AI
Age, weight, height, sex, and food logs may be treated as health-related personal data. We process them to run the features you request. Images leave the device when you run an AI scan.
9. SHARING
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We may share it with subprocessors needed to run the service, or if required by law, or in a merger or sale of the app.
10. RETENTION AND DELETION
Data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Profile > Privacy & Data > clear all data removes the Room database, preferences, and local meal images. Uninstalling also removes local data. Logs retained by Google or Open Food Facts follow those providers' retention rules. Cancelling a Play subscription does not erase your local diary; clear data separately if you want that.
11. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, and withdraw consent. Most of this can be done in the app. Contact hallerappsinfo@gmail.com for requests.
12. CHILDREN
Pomme is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Parents may contact us to request deletion.
13. SECURITY
Data is stored in app-private storage. Meal images are stored as files (paths), not database blobs. Network calls use HTTPS. No method is 100% secure.
14. CHANGES
We will post updates to this policy. For material changes we may also notify you in the app. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
