PolyCon staff reserves the right to refuse any items for inclusion in the auction for any reason. Additionally, PolyCon reserves the right to pull silent auction items even after listing for any reason so long as the item has not been declared to go to live auction. In this case, the lot fee will not be refunded.
All bids shall be made in full dollar increments (bids not in full dollar increments will be invalidated).
There is a $2 lot submission fee per item to be paid when the lot is brought to the auction staff.
If you do not indicate a starting minimum bid, then lot items will be given a $2 minimum first bid.
Once an item is on display, no further modifications can be made to the lot. All lots will be constantly monitored by PolyCon staff to prevent tampering. However, we cannot be held responsible for damage to items while on display.
At the close of the silent auction, please give auction staff time to process and sort lots. Depending on how many lots we receive, this may take some time. Payouts will be processed after payments have been collected.
The line labeled “first bid” will already have an opening bid written in. All you need to do is add your name if there is no name there already.
Further bids will go line by line with each new bidder writing in their name and increasing the previous bid by $1.
Be polite! If you and another bidder are competing for the same bid, politeness is expected. Any underhanded tactics (such as but not limited to blocking the table, stealing writing implements, etc.) will NOT be tolerated.
Any bids that are not clearly written are subject to cancellation by auction staff. PLEASE PRINT NEATLY, ESPECIALLY YOUR BID!
Bid #7 is listed as the “opening bid at live auction”. If this line is filled in, no further silent bids will be accepted and the lot will be moved into the live auction, held after the close of the silent auction.
The silent auction uses a “rolling” close system where lots will be closed one table at a time. There will be a “3 - 2 - 1 - closed” verbal warning given to each table.
If there is a flurry of last minute bids while the rolling close is occurring, auction staff may arbitrarily promote the lot to the live auction.
Leave all lots on the table until the rolling close is complete. Then give auction staff some time to sort lots before coming to claim your wins.
Rules for Live Auction Sellers
You must have a valid convention badge to enter items into the auction.
Auction slips will be available Sunday morning at 10 am.
There's a limit of 10 lots per seller.
A $2 consignment fee will be charged per lot for all lots brought to the auction. This fee is nonrefundable. Items donated to PolyCon are not charged this fee.
5. You must fill out an auction lot form including information such as your name, description and condition of the item, for each lot put into the auction. Bundled items are encouraged.
We cannot guarantee sale. If your item does not sell, we will not refund the consignment fee.
Items will be accepted for both auctions until 1 pm.
Money will be paid out to the sellers about 30 minutes after the auction ends. Note that this is now two separate times — one for the silent and one for the live auctions.
We reserve the right to refuse any item for auction. Items placed up for auction should be games or something gaming related. We don't want old VHS tapes. We are not a comic con.
Items will be placed in the live auction solely at the discretion of the auction staff. All items with "reserve" prices will be put into the silent auction.
Live Auction Buyer Rules
All sales are cash only. No credit cards or personal checks will be accepted. Dealer Dollars from this year’s convention will be accepted.
Call out your bids loud and clear, raising your hand for the auctioneer to see. Please leave your hand up as long as you are bidding on the item.
The minimum bid increment for each bid is $1 unless the auctioneer declares otherwise.
CAVEAT EMPTOR (“Let the buyer beware”): All auction items are sold “as is”, and we cannot guarantee or verify any claims made by the seller concerning the condition or value of any item.
When you have made the winning bid for an item proceed immediately to the cashier’s table, pay, and receive it.
