Rules & Policies

Welcome to PolyCon in the University Union! In order to help the con run smoothly and improve everyone's enjoyment we ask that you abide by the following rules. We provide a safe and welcoming environment and reserve our right to revoke admission without refund if these rules are not abided. Staff are identified by orange badges and/or capes; please follow any directions given by staff.

1. Harassment or unwelcome conduct, whether verbal, physical, visual, or in any other form, is strictly prohibited. 

2. The University Union is a student study area. Though unlikely, you may see students in their natural environment. Feel free to enjoy and observe the “studying” phenomenon they may exhibit, but DO NOT DISTURB. 

3. Your badge is your ticket to the con; you will not be able to participate in con events without it. Replacement badges may be obtained at the front desk at a cost of $5.

4. No soliciting except by registered dealers in the Dealer's Room.

5. The PolyCon Committee cannot and will not be responsible for your person, personal belongings, personal space, interpersonal relationships, or sanity. 

6. Abide by the rules of Cal Poly. They are graciously allowing us use of this space.

7. Do not rearrange furniture in UU.

8. No Spilling! If you do, find PolyCon staff… we have towels and wet wipes. They work better than the paper towels in the bathrooms.

9. Observe any additional rules that individual events may have. Especially the ones with swords.

10. Parents are responsible for their children. PolyCon does not provide child care or assume responsibility for the location or activity of minors. Children under 8 are required to be accompanied by a guardian at all times unless special exceptions for PolyCon Staff. Minors over 8 must have their guardian on site and will be free to come and go as they please from PolyCon areas.

11. Please seek out a Staff member (orange badge and/or caped) if you have any questions or concerns.

Alcohol Policy

PolyCon is a family-friendly event and maintains a ban on alcohol by con attendees and staff in all locations operated by PolyCon. Our speakeasy is alcohol-free.
