For over three decades, the Polish-Spanish Conference on the European Legal Tradition has served as a leading forum for scholarly dialogue on the foundations and continuity of European legal culture, with particular emphasis on the legacy of Roman law and its influence on modern legal systems. Roman law remains a key point of reference for shaping enduring legal solutions, illustrating both continuity and necessary adaptation in response to changing social and economic realities.
The conference will focus on on the functional adaptation of classical legal concepts to the regulatory and dogmatic frameworks necessitated by artificial intelligence, blockchain, and other advanced digital technologies. The conference will examine how classical legal principles can inform contemporary challenges arising from digital transformation, algorithmic decision-making, smart contracts, and the governance of distributed ledger systems. Organized into six thematic panels, the event will explore the relevance and adaptability of Roman legal thought in the 21st century.
