Polly Cooper Chapter officers are elected to the executive board every 2-4 years and, with them, fresh eyes and a new beginning. However, the information systems that support the chapter carry forward. How can the new administration ensure its online capability and preserve continuity? A unique onboarding experience can contribute to that overall goal.
The Polly Cooper Chapter maintains an active Google for Non-Profits account complete with chapter account management, online communication tools, and digital file organization. There's a lot of ground to cover to achieve fluency, especially for non-technical administrators. Learning doesn't have to be articulated in a dry handbook. Instead, imagine a self-paced online learning experience with animated videos and engaging activities, a place to not only absorb knowledge but share it with future board members (and volunteer information specialists).
As part of the capstone course for the Master of Learning Design and Technology program, the Polly Cooper Chapter has access to a time-limited resource. At no cost, the organization can receive 200 hours of design and development time toward the creation of a 6-8 hour learning experience. A real-world client requires real-world solutions! Along the way, input will be crucial for overall success.
We recognize that the Polly Cooper Chapter is in need of a self-paced, online learning experience to support its online capability and continuity. Training will focus on account management, online communication tools, and digital file organization (including website updates) within the Google for Non-Profits platform. The completed product will be made available as optional skill development for both volunteer information specialists and executive board members. All learners will be women over the age of 18 and have, at minimum, a high school education. Upon completion, learners will be able to perform tasks such as creating new accounts and updating mailing lists as needed for the chapter.
Analysis, design, and development phases will all be tracked with documents stored in the "Files" tab above. On our way to the finish line, there will be milestones and deadlines in order to meet the delivery date. Because of it's connection to UMGC, the target delivery date is accelerated; by extension, all deadlines are on a tight schedule. In the end, though, the chapter will have a fully functional learning experience which it can implement, evaluate, and iterate upon (if it so chooses).
