This field will be filled with plants that support native pollinators
(circled in red below)
In five years, this field will be a place where pollinators can come, from early spring through late fall, to find the blossoms that they need for nectar and pollen – their primary food sources. The nectar will provide the energy they need to fly and look for food, and the pollen will provide nutrients, including protein, a critical resource to feed their young.

This field currently has a robust weed seed bank, so we are growing cover crops and suppressing weeds one section at a time, then seeding and installing native plants that flower at different points in the growing season.
We will establish different plants that bloom from early through late in the growing season, with species that are needed by moths, bees, bumble bees, and other pollinators.
We have also planted several fruit trees, which will benefit from the presence of pollinators, and a small amount of asparagus and strawberries
This pollinator support project is funded through the NRCS Conservation Stewardship Program.
