TW: There will be pictures of spiders, wasps, and reptiles!
Dione vanillae - Gulf Fritillary
The most visible visitor to the garden, as a pleathora were attracted by the zinneas
Papilio glaucus - Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
One of my favorite butterflies.
Leptoglossus phyllopus - Eastern Leaf-footed Bug
These guys absolutesly loved, un, having relations on the sunflowers at the end of the growing season.
Praying Mantis Argiope aurantia - Yellow Garden Spider
The saga of Porch Mantis and Porch Spider was one that lasted well into the fall of 2023. They both lived in harmony, preying on smaller insects, but seemingly never bothering each other. Unfortunately, the end of the story occurred with Porch Spider's passing of natural causes in the winter. I could never get a good enough picture of Porch Mantis to identify her species.
Bombus pensylvanicus - American Bumble Bee
One of the main reasons I started this garden. I love the bumble bees.
Scolia dubia - Blue-winged wasp
These beauties loved the little white flowers of the late boneset.
Jumping Spider
There are so many species of jumping spider that I can't figure out what this one belongs to. It was half the size of my pinky nail and as curious about me as I was about it.
Anolis carolinensis - Green anole
Look at this cheeky gentleman sunning on a milkweed plant. I don't know if this is a gentleman, actually, but I like him.
