Party Platforms on Climate Change
A brief review of recent events
The Republican Party
Supports the development of all forms of energy that are marketable in a free economy (coal, oil, natural gas).
Half of Republicans say that climate change is happening (strongest support on coastal areas and other affected areas).
Majority in favor of policies to migitate climate change.
The Democratic Party
Believe that climate change poses a real and urgent threat to our economy, our national security, and our children’s health and futures.
Believe that Americans deserve the jobs and security that come from clean energy.
The Libertarian Party
Oppose the Clean Air act and anti-litter laws.
Call for abolition of the EPA.
Call for corporations to be held accountable for their waste if it affects property owners.
Oppose government mandated conservation efforts.
The Green Party
One major platform is their environmental protection ideas.
The environment is a primary concern and oppose fossil fuels.
Support the green new deal.
Very adamant about workers rights and raising the minimum wage.
The First Presidential Debate of 2020: Climate Change.
The presidential nominees (President Trump and Former Vice President Joe Biden) where asked about climate change at the first presidential debate of 2020; the first time in over a decade climate change has appeared as a topic of interest.

Find your local polling place
Have your ID ready
Show up and vote!
Absentee Ballot
Review the absentee application and be sure you meet the requirements. You can request this online or by mail.
Fill out your application completely.
Submit the request to your local election office. You should request your ballot as far in advance of the election as possible. The deadline to request a ballot by mail is Wednesday, October 28, 2020.
When your ballot arrives, read it carefully and follow the instructions to complete it and return it.
Your ballot must be postmarked by Tuesday, November 3, 2020 and received no later than Monday, November 9, 2020.
West Virginia Voting
West Virginia also offers early voting in person (mainly available through county courthouses)
West Virginia offers absentee ballots by mail for those unable to vote in person (due to COVID, being away for college/work, disability)
