About the Committee
Der Ausschuss „Politische Ökonomie“ wurde im September 2025 auf Antrag von 51 Mitgliedern des Vereins für Socialpolitik eingerichtet.
Die Ziele des politökonomischen Ausschusses umfassen unter anderem:
Die Entwicklung und Erörterung von neuen Themen auf dem Gebiet der Politischen Ökonomie.
Die Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Austausches und die Weiterbildung der Mitglieder in neuen Aspekten auf dem Gebiet der Politischen Ökonomie.
Die Unterstützung, das Mentoring und die berufliche Weiterentwicklung jüngerer Wissenschaftler*innen auf dem Gebiet der Politischen Ökonomie.
Die Förderung von Exzellenz und Innovation in der Lehre sowie die Unterstützung in der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Aufklärung über ökonomische Sachverhalte auf dem Gebiet der Politischen Ökonomie.
Darüber hinaus bemühen wir uns, über die VWL/Politikwissenschaft- Fächergrenze hinweg zu kooperieren. Besonders wichtig ist es uns, in dem und durch den Ausschuss den wissenschaftlichen (insbesondere weiblichen) Nachwuchs im Feld nachdrücklich und nachhaltig zu fördern.
Das Interessengebiet des Ausschusses, die Politische Ökonomie, untersucht die Wechselwirkungen zwischen ökonomischen Prozessen und politischen Strukturen. Diese Strukturen umfassen Institutionen, diverse Gruppierungen und Einzelakteure.
Damit stehen folgende Forschungsthemen im Zentrum des Interesses:
Wähler, Kandidaten, Interessensgruppen
Interaktion der Legislative mit der Exekutive, Bürokratie und dem Gerichtssystem
Interaktion zwischen Politikversagen und Marktversagen, einschließlich Protesten und Konflikten zwischen politischen Akteuren
Politik und Makroökonomie, Internationale Politische Ökonomie, Internationale Beziehungen und Konflikt
Historische und vergleichende Entwicklung Politischer Systeme und Nichtdemokratien
Interaktion von Medien mit politischen Strukturen
The Committee on Political Economy was established in September 2025 at the request of 51 members of the German Economic Association.
The objectives of the Committee for Political Economy include, among others:
The development and discussion of new topics in the field of political economy.
The promotion of academic exchange and the continuing education of members in new aspects of political economy.
The support, mentoring, and professional development of younger academics in the field of political economy.
The promotion of excellence and innovation in teaching, as well as the support of public relations and education on economic issues in the field of political economy.
In addition, we strive to cooperate across the boundaries of economics and political science. It is particularly important to us to strongly and sustainably promote young academics (especially women) in the field, both within and through the committee.
The committee's area of interest, political economy, examines the interactions between economic processes and political structures. These structures include institutions, various groups and individual actors.
Thus, the following research topics are the focus of interest:
Voters, candidates, interest groups
Interaction between the legislature and the executive, bureaucracy and the court system
Interaction between political failure and market failure, including protests and conflicts between political actors
Politics and macroeconomics, international political economy, international relations and conflict
Historical and comparative development of political systems and non-democracies
Interaction between the media and political structures
