Voting is a tool that can be used to steer power of control in a certain field or to assess some kind of decision. In this case, it is voting in an election, with a goal to appoint a new leader that will work with the people to ensure their needs and concerns are met. This is a powerful right that everyone 18 and above can achieve, and each vote matters. Each vote of one person gets added to the masses of other voters who choose candidates that they think can help us, and it can even clear close gaps during elections to quickly sweep the voting into another candidate's favor.

It can help us fight against issues and further strengthen our rights. This decision that you make affects the entire country, it should not be put to waste and should be used for the greater good. Your vote will affect you and millions of other people's lives, it can affect the most tiny things from your daily routine to your everyday work or education. This gives the voters freedom to fight for what they think is right and rewrite the wrongs of the past.
What is an election and how does it work?
An election is the formal and organized choice by vote of a person for a political office or other position. In the Philippines, the election for president and vice-resident is held every six years. Of the 24 senators, the 12 with the most votes shall serve for six years, while the remaining will serve for 3 years. Local elections are also held every three years.

According to RA 8189 sec. 9, also known as The Voter’s Registration Act of 1996, there are 4 qualifications needed to register to vote:
The voter must be a Philippine citizen
The voter must be 18 years of age
The voter must have resided within the Philippines for at least one year
The voter must have resided at least six months in the place wherein they intend to vote prior to the election

Do's and Don'ts of Voting:
Recently, a video of the Negros Oriental official raining P500 bills on spectators went viral, an act which may be seen as vote-buying as the official aspires to take part as a candidate in the local election. The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has since commented on this, its chairman George Garcia clarifying that the province official is not technically a candidate, due to the actual campaign period starting on March 28, therefore not violating election laws.
However, he then added that any resident or occupant is free to file a complaint, and that it is in the hands of the voters whether or not to vote for (potential) candidates that would take advantage of Filipinos in poverty.
