Poison-nerie 2050 is an educational tool designed to warn about the dangers of plastic pollution in our oceans. Created in 2019 for the “La Mer XXL” event, it powerfully and creatively illustrates the catastrophic impacts of plastic on marine wildlife, ecosystems, and our health.
In 2016, a report by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation delivered a chilling finding :
If we continue at this rate, by 2050 our oceans will contain more plastic than fish by weight.
The idea behind Poison-nerie is to transform this tragic forecast into a tool for awareness. By simulating a fish market of the future—with plastic items (straws, cigarette butts, bottle caps, etc.) instead of fish—it provokes and shocks to better inform.
Awaken awareness : Demonstrate in a concrete and visual way the impacts of plastic on the ocean.
Inform : Present key figures, explain issues, effects on our health, and available solutions.
Mobilize : Encourage visitors to act individually and collectively to reduce their plastic use.
The plastic waste of tomorrow :
Banned items under law (straws, plastic plates, cotton swabs) and those still problematic (cigarette butts, industrial plastic pellets).
Environmental impacts :
The “7th continent” of plastic (North Pacific garbage vortex).
Invisible pollution: microplastics in water, food, and our bodies.
Concrete solutions:
Simple alternatives to single-use plastics.
Importance of sorting and legislative changes such as the AGEC Act.
Poison-nerie 2050 is not just a warning—it also highlights the progress already made thanks to regulations and collective actions. Together, we can reverse the trend and protect our oceans for future generations.
Join the movement and be part of the solution !
