Community Perspectives
During these engagement events, the design team shared a project overview and gathered community priorities, insights, and concerns. In addition to focused stakeholder meetings with community organizations such as the Point Richmond Neighborhood Association, the Richmond Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and the Gateway Foundation, the project team hosted two events to gather community perspectives:
Open House on May 23, 2026, 10am to noon, in the Mechanics Bank Plaza. Approximately 30 community members participated in discussion, shared comments, and provided feedback on the project scope and need. Click here for a summary.
Walking Tour on May 30th, 2026, 10am to noon. The walking tour commenced in the Mechanics Bank Plaza and included stops at W. Richmond Ave and Railroad Ave, along Railroad Avenue, at Railroad Ave. and Tewksbury Ave., and at Tewksbury Ave. and Santa Fe Ave. Approximately 15 community members participated in the walking tour. Options Feedback
At this event, the design team shared the feedback received from the first event and presented conceptual design alternatives. The team also met with community members at Point Richmond Music to review and discuss proposed design alternatives.
