Welcome to new and returning players! Here're the basics to get you started:
Check our infographics page, the #news-and-infographics channel on the Pokémon GO London Discord, and these Twitter feeds.
Solo raiding: You should be OK to do level 1 & 2 Raids by yourself if you search for the counters for the Raid Boss. Level 3 is a challenge you might set yourself if you do your research. Levels 4 & 5 will always require more people.
Central London: For Legendary Pokémon and popular level 4 Bosses (e.g. Tyranitar), you can often find enough people in any lobby at the time the egg hatches and the raid becomes available. Otherwise, find people to co-ordinate with on the Pokémon GO London Discord (#e-central-raids and #canarywharf-raids are very active; you may find someone in #w-central-raids) or perhaps a local group (e.g. SE1/London Bridge, Paddington).
Interested in a weekend day out raiding? Check #raid-updates or #meetups to see if you can join a roving raid group. Most are now on WhatsApp, taking advantage of its live-location feature.
Suburbs: Check the list of local groups to find one for your area. Ask in a nearby group if no group is listed for your exact area.
Deoxys is available via an EX Raid. See EX Raid FAQ for more information on EX Raids.
IV checking: To check the quality of your Pokémon, use PokéGenie (iOS, Android), CalcyIV (Android), or PokeAssistant (Web).
If you're testing a Raid/hatch/quest Pokémon, the !raidiv [pokemon] [cp]
bot command in #bot-playground on the Pokémon GO London Discord may be useful. In particular, you can just type the CP of any current Legendary, Tyranitar or Mewtwo, into that channel and get instant results, even before catching! Type !raidiv
for help.
Throwing trick: This easy technique allows you to all-but-guarantee hitting a Great Throw every time on a Raid Boss and not wasting a single ball (video/text).
Learn to throw Curveballs to substantially increase catch chance in every situation.
Catch glitch: This easy technique allows you to skip the cut-scene that plays after you hit a Pokémon with a ball making catching much faster (video/text).
