On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, Adel successfully defended his PhD thesis titled "PADDLING ALONG THE VOLTAGE GATED SODIUM CHANNEL GALAXY WITH SEA ANEMONE TOXINS: STRUCTURAL STUDIES OF THE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE PADDLE MOTIF FROM NAV1.5DIV AND SEA ANEMONE TOXIN". This was yet another Zoom defense, but that didn't take anything away from the excellent work Adel presented. Thank you to all who attended and to the thesis committee! And yes, we are still waiting for the party, the reasons to celebrate are piling up.

On Tuesday, March 31, 2020, Ryan successfully defended his PhD thesis titled "STRUCTURAL STUDIES OF PEPTIDE TOXINS AND THEIR BINDING PROPERTIES TOWARDS THE VOLTAGE SENSING DOMAIN OF NAV1.7". Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the defense was held completely on-line, which didn't stop Ryan from giving an excellent presentation. Thank you to all who attended and to the thesis committee! A party will follow as soon as possible.
Many of us attended the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society in Baltimore, where Ryan presented a well-received poster on his exciting work on the functional expression of a Nav1.7 voltage-sensing domain
