Dymond A Horton (also known as Poetic Justice) is a poet and performer whose work lives at the intersection of storytelling, culture, and quiet revolution. Writing from lived experience with bold honesty, she uses poetry as both a mirror and a megaphone—reflecting the realities of her community while amplifying truths that are often left unsaid. Her work challenges stereotypes, confronts assumptions, and pushes audiences to rethink the narratives society places on identity, race, and womanhood.
As the voice behind the brand Breaking Statistics / Destroying Stereotypes, Dymond creates poetry that surpasses barriers and refuses to be boxed in. Some listeners have even called her a “protest poet,” not simply because she speaks on injustice, but because her work refuses silence. Through rhythm, storytelling, and sharp social awareness, she challenges systems, stereotypes, and the quiet expectations placed on young Black artists.
Her style is deeply inspired by hip-hop’s storytelling tradition and the artists who use words as both art and activism. Drawing influence from voices like Tupac Shakur, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole, Dymond approaches poetry with the cadence, honesty, and cultural awareness that define the genre. She believes poetry should move the way music does—raw, rhythmic, and impossible to ignore. With ambitions to explore and touch every genre of poetry, her work moves fluidly between vulnerability, cultural commentary, humor, sensuality, and revolution.
Audiences often recognize her performances by a phrase that has become a signature: “Trigger warning.”
When Dymond says it, the room shifts.
Because what follows might be vulnerable.
It might be uncomfortable.
It might sound like the truth people are used to whispering instead of saying out loud.
Despite her calm presence and soft appearance, Dymond frequently surprises audiences with the intensity of her words. She doesn’t always look like what comes out of her mouth—and that contrast only amplifies the impact of her performances.
To get her point(s) across, Dymond has touched many stages, including featuring twice at PeopleLovePoetry, performing at HeART After Dark, and participating in Sharp Pens 2025. She is also the Winner of the PeopleLovePoetry Amateur Slam 2025, further establishing herself as a rising voice in spoken word.
Beyond the stage, Dymond is passionate about building community and curating spaces where poets and artists can show up fully and honestly. She believes poetry should create room for people to release what weighs on them, speak their truth, and be heard without judgment. Whether organizing events or supporting fellow creatives, she works to cultivate spaces where vulnerability and expression are welcomed.
Currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree while preparing for future studies in law, Dymond continues to grow both as an artist and as an advocate. Her long-term vision is to use both poetry and law as tools to challenge injustice, amplify voices, and create meaningful change.
Through every stage she touches, Dymond A Horton proves that poetry is more than performance—it is expression, resistance, healing, and revolution.
