It seems that the origin of the podcast name came from combining the words "broadcasting" and "iPods". The "pod" is more of a reflection on portability where the use of "backronym" for POD is short for portable on demand (MusicOomph) (also see Yaro.Blog, Blubrry, Oberlo, mindvalley, and The Podcast Host).
A podcast can be described as a timely recorded and portable episodic audio sessions made available for listeners to easily access and listen.
