After studying the pictures a bit more, I have another idea for the buttons. Place them on the thin fabric piece going across the pocket instead of sewing them above it. They would only be for decor, not buttoned onto the skirt. Just an idea I felt led to share. Love this little skirt. I make gifts for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes, and this skirt will be a new addition this year for the girls, even the older girls!

Perhaps we could sew on buttons for decoration without making the button holes. It seems that the buttons would be pulled as the girl puts her hand into the pocket with buttons sewn from behind and then buttoned onto the pocket.

3. Score and seal the edges.

Dry fit before joining the seams. Place a few pieces of tissue inside to support the front pocket. If everything looks good, score the edges and press firmly along the outer edges to join the two pieces together. If there are any cracks or imperfections, you can dip your finger into a bowl of water and buff them out using a small circular motion.

This will be a series of posts showing how I do arches, including a couple of arches that house pocket doors. I did my first arched pocket door a few years ago with an arched wood split-jamb trimmed with arched wood casing. The one I am doing now involves an arched drywall pocket. Here are a couple of photos of a finished version and one that will be completed this week.

The arches are being added to old plaster walls (except for the pocket door opening) and each arch is a different width and and depth. The radius was tighter than any arch forming product I found on the market and with different wall thicknesses and a unique tight radius, so I made my own arch corner frames.
