Still looking for a solution, since the only skin that could support this is $Yaps$ but my device can't access the playstore, so I can't buy that skin.

In the meanwhile I'm using another workaround to make thumbs button easier to acces.

I'm unsure whether this could be handled in the skin SDK yet. Perhaps somebody could illustrate whether this is so? I've a reasonable programming background and if this isn't a dead end from the get go, I'd be happy to start developing a skin for this purpose. If not, I'd like to put the suggestion out there.

The YAPS big skin looks like a suitable starting point but has some deficiencies in the context of an auto-friendly skin, which I am still unsure as to whether are in the domain of skinning or a fundamental baked-in aspect of Poweramp. Take these examples:

The currently-playing track strip at the bottom of the screen isn't adjustable in size by any skin I've seen as of yet, so I have no good conclusion on whether this can be modified as part of a v3 skin. I've found myself stabbing at this strip several times (and missing) whilst driving, which is problematic to say the least. I might be missing some other sort of UI gesture to go back to that screen of course!

More or less the same applies to the currently playing track control screen. Simplicity is top notch in the YAPS skin, however the lower icon strip and track number information could be far larger. I would suspect that the track info is skin controllable, whilst the vis/timer/repeat/shuffle icons may not be. I'll reach out an contact the YAPS skin dev for an opinion, and I'll feed back into this thread to bring everything into place. Thanks!

Oops, brainfart. I didn't realise that Theo ( @flyingdutchman ) was tagged in on this thread already. His input would be invaluable in this sort of venture, especially when it comes down to what we actually have available to skin within the Poweramp SDK. I think that once I get back from un-distancing myself to get winter tyres swapped over to my summer wheels, I'll open up the example Poweramp v3 skins in Android Studio and see if I can figure out what sort of learning curve and knowledge load I'd need to take this one on. I do like to task myself....hahaha

Here's a very early photo of the tablet install (bezel needs opening out to full screen size with 15 degree draft angle) to give you an idea of scale in the PA default dark skin. YAPS' modifications seem to bring this more into line with usability, so let's see where we go from here.

Thanks Theo - I think that this will be a steep learning curve, however challenges aren't meant to be simple. Learning Android Studio just to skin the tablet in our car sounds a little crazy when you stack it up ?

Oh wow, yes. That's the sort of scaling that makes more sense in this context, and there's much more of that AA/AM vibe there as well. With Poweramp being one of the few audio player apps that plays ball with AA/AM, I'm surprised that there hasn't already been more specific development along these lines either in skins or directly within the app itself....hence the feature request/query line I came in on.

I have to admit that I haven't quite advanced as far into producing a skin as I would have liked thus far. I managed to incorporate an external font and a few simple things such as that, but nothing more. I take it that with your example being very much a direct development upon your commercial YAPS skin that you'd be somewhat averse to sharing the source, even privately? It would certainly be a great springboard to take what I've learnt from the Poweramp sample skin and build something more comprehensive.

I just downloaded this skin along with getting a new phone. So far, I love it so much! My only complaint/question is would it be possible to move the top buttons down right above the title and track info?

Please don't change this. The minimal skin is the only one with these less used buttons out of the way and not the center of focus. I much prefer the current layout with the metadata below the artwork, the function buttons at the very top, and the access buttons at the very bottom.

Great skin - the cleanest I've yet come across. Just one complaint: when you hide the top buttons (which I like to do as I never use them), the track counter is placed over the album art, and if said art happens to be white or light blue/grey it can be very hard to see. Perhaps add a thin dark outline to the text, or else move it to above the track title (there seems to be some room there)?

This skin is awesome. I like that nothing goes on top of the album cover, just like in Poweramp v2. Please never change this or at least make it an option to keep the album cover free of any other elements or buttons.

Thank you for your hard work.

Hi I really love the look of this skin but my play pause and seek buttons are cut off due to the low resolution of my device (FiiO X7 mark II). This has a 3.97 inch screen of 480x800 resolution. If you could please adjust the skin so it fits my size that would be greatly appreciated!

I actually like this at the point I'm willing to get it even bugged, if isn't a problem could you please share a screenshot of the main player screen, how it is with the skin right now? Would be nice if it's two pictures, one with the buttons enabled and one with them off

@ScarletNeko if the top icons are turned off, all looks great. If they are on, the artwork shifts up and the icons are floating over the top edge of the image. Not a deal breaker, I'm sure it will get corrected between the skin and app developers. @Ducktamine @maxmp

Good stuff @ScarletNeko. With my device's OLED display (LG G8) the dark themes are very vibrant, and use less power as well when mostly black. And since I mostly use it for in-car use, the colour combinations match my Buick Regal's cyan dash lighting. Glad these pics helped. You can also do a lot with @flyingdutchman Yaps skins, almost every element can be customized individually.

Dear Ducktamine, thanks for your great work on this minimal skin.It was your effort with this skin, that makes me use Poweramp again. I disliked too many aspects of the V3 but you brought back enough V2ishness so that I now can enjoy PA again.I just have one thing that I eould like to change:Almost all the font sizes are almost too small for me to read since I have not full eyesight anymore. So question:What can I do to change font sizes on lists, player UI etc.?

You can switch between skins (new or old) with the Settings > Look and Feel > Skin menu. And the Export/Import Settings feature saves the settings of all installed skins, not just the currently active one.

I suspect this request of mine from a while back would do exactly what you want though, as you just could backup just the skin settings to a file so when you later restore that file it wouldn't affect any other changes you may have made in the meantime:

I asked about that years ago. I guess the feature never got added. I hate losing my custom settings and not have presets to get back the way i had it. I also don't change the colors and settings on Yaps because there is so many settings and colors in afraid I'll never get it back the way i had it. If only i can have different presets for color schemes. Recently Yaps got defaulted on both my tablet and phone. I spent a long time on it and still didn't get it the way i had it. I get so overwhelmed trying to customize Yaps that i use a simpler skin like liv dark.

Just save your settings when you've got them the way you want, then you can restore them again later if you ever mess something up. From PA 912 you can even create a backup file that contains only your skin settings, so using it won't change any other settings in PA. You can create/restore as many backup files as you like to try out different options. ff782bc1db
