CONVEY TRADE LIMITED ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Pocket Compass mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you use our App on your Android device.
Key Principle: Pocket Compass is a fully offline, utility tool that does not collect, upload, or share any personal data. Reading this policy will take less than two minutes.
We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or personally identifiable information (PII).
Specifically, the App does not collect:
Name, email address, phone number, or any identity data
Device identifiers (including Advertising ID, IMEI, MAC address, Android ID)
Precise or approximate location data (GPS, network-based, or IP-based)
Contacts, calendar, photos, files, or media
Camera or microphone input
Crash reports, analytics, or usage telemetry
Account credentials or authentication tokens
The App contains zero third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or any form of tracking.
The App requests zero Android runtime permissions.
Pocket Compass uses only the device's built-in rotation-vector sensor (magnetometer + accelerometer + gyroscope). This sensor is accessible without any permission and reveals no personal information about the user.
The App reads real-time values from your device's rotation-vector sensor to calculate the magnetic-north heading.
All sensor processing happens entirely on your device
Sensor data is held only in volatile memory (RAM) while the App is in the foreground
Data is never written to persistent storage, logged, exported, or transmitted
When you close the App or send it to the background, all sensor readings are immediately discarded
The App stores one small piece of non-personal technical data locally on your device using Android's standard SharedPreferences system:
Your theme preference (a single boolean value: Day mode or Night mode)
Important facts about this data:
It never leaves your device
It is not associated with any identifier, account, or profile
It is not accessible by any other app
You can delete it at any time by:
Going to Android Settings → Apps → Pocket Compass → Storage → Clear Storage
Uninstalling the App
No other data is stored locally.
The App has no network code and makes zero internet requests. It functions completely offline. No data ever leaves your device because there is no transmission path.
The App does not integrate any third-party services, including but not limited to:
Advertising networks (no ads of any kind)
Analytics frameworks (no Firebase, Google Analytics, etc.)
Crash reporting (no Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
Social media SDKs (no Facebook, Google Sign-In, etc.)
Push notification services
In-app purchase or payment processors (no billing SDKs)
Any remote configuration or feature flag SDKs
The App is distributed as a standalone binary with no embedded data collection of any kind.
Pocket Compass does not require, support, or allow user accounts. There is no login, no profile, no password, and no way to identify individual users.
Because Pocket Compass collects zero personal data, the following applies under major privacy regulations:
GDPR (Europe): We are neither a data controller nor a data processor. There is no personal data to access, rectify, erase, or export.
CCPA/CPRA (California): We do not "sell" or "share" personal information (because we collect none).
Brazil's LGPD, Canada's PIPEDA, Singapore's PDPA, Japan's APPI, Australia's Privacy Act: No personal data is processed.
Since no personal data exists, there are no user rights to exercise regarding data — but you remain in full control of the local theme preference (Section 4), which you can delete at any time.
The App is suitable for users of all ages, including children under 13. Because the App collects no personal information whatsoever, it does not knowingly or unknowingly collect information from children. The App complies fully with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and all equivalent international laws by virtue of collecting nothing.
There is no personal data to secure, lose, steal, or breach. The only data stored (your theme preference) resides within Android's standard application sandbox, which is inaccessible to other apps. No transmission means no interception risk.
Pocket Compass displays magnetic north as reported by your device's sensors. The App does not apply magnetic declination correction (the difference between magnetic north and true geographic north), because doing so would require location permissions — which would violate our zero-permission, zero-data-collection design.
For everyday orientation in most populated regions, the small declination error (typically a few degrees) is acceptable.
For professional use requiring true north (e.g., backcountry navigation, surveying, aviation, marine), use a dedicated tool with declination adjustment.
Environmental interference (nearby metal, magnets, electronics) can affect accuracy. If readings seem unstable, follow the on-screen prompt to move your phone in a figure-eight pattern to recalibrate the magnetometer.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or Google Play policies. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.
If a future change materially affects how the App handles information (though unlikely given our zero-data design), we will provide notice through the Google Play store listing.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
