2026 Pocasset Lake Association Goals
Maintain Pocasset Lake's pristine water quality through collaboration with 30 Mile River Watershed's sampling, monitoring, and water quality analysis. We will focus on proper land use management to minimize phosphorous loads that cause algal blooms.
Collaborate with 30 Mile River Watershed Association and Maine Lakes to establish Lake Smart teams on Pocasset. Through education, training, and local involvement we can protect our precious lake.
How you can help: Are you interested in learning more about being a Lake Smart Evaluator? As a steward of Pocasset, you can help landowners learn more about ways to improve shoreline grading, add shoreline buffers, and plant live stakes to help reduce run-off that will curb threats to water quality.
Watershed Survey follow-up to help property owners understand their survey reports and implement simple solutions to minimize runoff and reduce phosphorous loads on the lake. 2023 Pocasset Watershed Survey Full Report
As Pocasset-area homeowners and conservationists, we can work together building capacity within our local volunteer network to protect our lakes, ponds, streams, and other waterways. These are vital resources that need our help.
Learn more here about training opportunities as well as ways to help protect lakeside areas from erosion by engaging in a training via the state-wide LakeSmart Training Program: https://www.lakes.me/lakesmart
The Pocasset Lake Association membership is dedicated to preserving the area in and around Pocasset Lake, located in Wayne, Maine.
Here is some basic information about our association:
We have an 11-member board that is comprised of 4 officers and 7 directors that meets regularly to discuss needs such as buoy placement, water quality testing, and loon counts.
We publish an annual newsletter and maintain this website as a resource for members to stay informed on important issues affecting Pocasset Lake and the other lakes, ponds and rivers included in our 30 Mile River Watershed.
Together we can help preserve our lake for future generations.
We welcome new members to join our association!
