Animal Charities:

After seeing very similar levels of demand at the start of the year RSPCA has overtaken Dogs Trust since the middle of March.

Battersea demand has inreased signficanrly through April as can be seen in the year on year charts below.

Looking at individual animal charity demand versus 2019 it's clear that demand for all showed a drop during the middle of March and the first weeks of lockdown. However, as time has passed demand for all 4 charities has increased.

Battersea has seen the strongest growth and is actually seeing much higher demand in 2020 compared with 2019.

Getting and Adopting A Dog:

Searches for 'get a dog' and 'adopt a dog' have risen sharply through March and April as people are using the time at home either to action previously set out plans to get a dog or have made short-term decisions to look into getting a dog.

Training & Behaviour:

Demand for puppy and dog training has increased through March and April. With the introduction of social distancing many training classes will have been cancelled so new puppy owners may be looking for other solutions. This can also be linked to additional demand for dogs and puppys outlined above where many new dog owners are looking for training.
