Killer all woman punk band from Austin, all about 22 (my son’s age), just released their first full length album on Third Man, produced by the guy who did the last Turnstile album. Their earlier EPs are awesome too. Saw them once in Austin and they are fierce, like the daughters of Hole and Motörhead. About to break big, playing Coachella this year, opening for Foo Fighters in Europe.

I love the energy of this song and its non-sensical blend of influences. Chopin meets Cannibal Corpse with some monastic choir and construction equipment mixed in.
Bonus Pick: "Lo Que Vale" by Calva Louise

I have never liked any version of this song. Ever. And it feels like there's been a lot people trying it on. But this one was a total reimagination of it. Soulful, gritty, guitar-driven. It sounds like the type of song Willie Nelson would have arranged 50 years ago if he was stuck in El Paso on a too hot night and ran out of weed (or had exactly the right amount) with just one channel on the radio flirting with plaintive acoustic guitar melodies wafting up to his open hotel room window from a cantina below.
