The common notion of Ground Water being an unlimited resource has been challenged through various studies in the last couple of decades in India. As, ground water acts as a major source of drinking water in the country, the sustainability of the water yielding sources (often aquifers) has immense significance.
While working at Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Ltd. (subsidiary of Coal India Ltd.), I got the chance to observe the status of ground water and its impact on people after visiting villages near mining projects in Vidarbha region. This compelled me to explore the field of hydrogeology, a branch of earth science that has a direct impact on the society.
Given the situation of water requirement, the impact of hydrogeology on society and the opportunity this field provides to interplay with other disciplines of science and engineering. My research interest lies application of AI in drinking water, working with (or developing) the process based and data based model in the field of Hydroscience.
