Division A: Intermediate School

We are no longer looking for members for the 2024-2025 school year. You must be a Swiftwater Intermediate School or Pocono Mountain Cyber Program student in grades 4-6, but you have the potential to compete against grades K-6 in the future. While we have every event covered at our invitational, there are still 6 open second event supervisor spots. If you are a Division C team member or alternate at Pocono Mountain East or Pocono Mountain West High School interested in helping out, let your advisor know. This is a great opportunity to get community service hours and help educate younger students!

Division A operates differently than the divisions for older students. There are less events (15 instead of 23) and less students per team. While there are official rules, no official regional, state, or national level competitions are held. Students only participate in local invitationals. Currently the only invitational students will be participating in is our own Pocono Mountain invitational which will be hosted at Pocono Mountain East Junior High School this year, making it the first Division A invitational to be held in Pennsylvania outside of the Philadelphia area. In the future, we plan to alternate holding the competition at the East and West campus every year. The invitational will only be open to Swiftwater Intermediate School students and Clear Run Intermediate School students. Tobyhanna Elementary Center and nearby schools from outside the district may be invited to compete in future years if there is an interest.

Currently, there are two Science Olympiad teams operating at Swiftwater Intermediate School. Team lists are not publicly shared like we do for our Division B and C teams to give the younger students privacy.
