Before I went out to do oral history Interviews, I spoke at length to some fellow researchers at the Luzerne County Historical Society in Wilkes Barre who gave me excellent guidelines to follow:
Before I went out to do oral history Interviews, I spoke at length to some fellow researchers at the Luzerne County Historical Society in Wilkes Barre who gave me excellent guidelines to follow:
"Always go for specific information," they directed. "Those who are willing to talk to you, will talk about anything and everything. Decide what it is that makes their stories special or unique or what event they had actually witnessed or took part in and go for that. Kindly keep them on target the best way you can. That way you will have recorded a first-hand witness account of a memorable or historical event, and the rest is gravy."
