Try choosing random colors and shades as inspirations! Use those colors for anything- it can be for clothes, eyes, dyed parts, abnormal color areas, or if you're feeling like doing an alien or something, do it for skin color and markings! A good randomizer for this comes from Rangen! Just click here!
Use your favorite photographs or generate a random image. When you get an interesting one, use whatever subject(s) and vibes are in it, and maybe you'll get a vague shape of character. If using a generate, use this generator from randomwordgenerator.com! It's where I got that picture of a tiny home inside a glass jar. Huh.... I wonder where it comes from and who lives in there...
Mythical creatures are awesome, if not sometimes weird and bizarre. Why not make a character based off of one or two? It doesn't even have to be a creature; you can use just the creature's personality, and/or a few of it's physical traits and powers. Find some with this here generator!
Usually, you think of a plot first before worrying about a title. But title generators can be quite interesting, to say the least. Find one here. "Anchor and Flesh"? "Thirst of the Light"? "The Magician's Dream"? What can you do with those?
No doubt, emojis are fun to use. But did you know that it's possible to get an idea from them? This one is a harder one to do, as it requires you to connect the dots with some pre-made tiny images, but you can do it! Choose a few random emojis or use this! (coolgenerator.com does wonders.) Set the type to whatever you want, choose your quantity, and click Generate! Can you make something out of โ , ๐ฑ , ๐ธ๐ฟ , ๐บ๐พ , and/or ๐ฉ๐ผโโค๏ธโ๐โ๐ฉ๐พ ?
Usernames hold endless possibility. It could be anything. If you've ever thought of a cool username idea, or think that two words stuck together sound good, try imagining what a character with such a username is like. It can be literal, or it can just match personality. To provide further aid, I have another generator that I found. fantasynamegenerators.com is great! Don't just use that one generator, because there's so much more.
Like "Title First", this tip doesn't start with a character outline. This one starts with the plot. Do you have an interesting story idea? Start from there, then slowly sew together a character. I have two generators to help you: this one from servicescape.com, and this one from Reedsy. Here's one I generated from Reedsy that you can use, too: "Write about someone whoโs lived on a tropical island their whole life and is leaving it for the very first time."
If these tips and pre-generated prompts from me helped, tell me here! I'd love to know what you did!
