Plum, Crimson Pointe
Plum, Crimson Pointe
Crimson Pointe plum (Prunus cerasifera 'Cripoizam') is a deciduous flowering tree that is known for its upright, columnar growth habit and deep red-purple foliage. It is a hybrid between two plum species, Prunus cerasifera and Prunus 'Pissardii', and is commonly used as an ornamental tree in landscapes.
A mature Crimson Pointe plum tree can reach a height of 15 to 20 feet (4.6 to 6.1 meters) and a spread of 4 to 6 feet (1.2 to 1.8 meters). Its narrow, upright growth habit makes it ideal for small gardens and tight spaces. The leaves of the Crimson Pointe plum are deep red-purple in color and turn bronze in the fall. It produces small, fragrant pink flowers in early spring, followed by small, edible red plums in the summer.
