When I'm running Firefox, a clean and fresh installation - all plugins disabled (tested in safe mode too), I have observed that KPM is responsible for slowing down text input, password fields and general communication through the browser. Disabling the plugin - is the only solution to ensuring that the problem does not occur. It is 100% repeatable and has become somewhat troublesome, especially as I type rather speedy. So I tend to finish my paragraph and then watch it slowly clacker its way into the text field.

It is 100% the Kaspersky plugin - when it is disabled, the text input works fine. I am not sure what would cause this to happen, but it's rather irritating when I am trying to type up an important document, etc, then this happens. This thread linked above is well over a year old, and shows that the issue has not been resolved.

Plugin Free Download Manager Firefox 12

Is there a way to customize the tab dropdown from the firefox plugin?

I have 4 credit cards saved and they appear at the top and that means I have to scroll to see my first (primary) saved identity.

Customizable would be ideal but it would also work if the dropdown went to the bottom of the page to display more content.

Thanks!

I frequently use the SQLite Manager plugin of Firefox for playing around with a light weight database file I've. The problem with this is, whenever I have to open the SQLite Manager, I need to first open Firefox and then open the plugin from it which is quite annoying at times, as I never intend to use Firefox at all.

Thank you all for your feedback and your suggestions/questions. I modified the code so that it works with home-manager too (see below). It also includes a minimal configuration for profiles that should be easily adaptable and further expandable.

The dynamic library's name must be the plugin's base name surrounded by platform conventions for a dynamic library. Given our "foobar" example, this would be "libfoobar.dylib" on OS X, "foobar.dll" on Windows, and "libfoobar.so" on Linux.

The capability record lists strings used to identify APIs provided by the GMP. Each API can (optionally) have a list of tags associated with it, giving further information about what is supported. The separator character for the list of tags is ":" (e.g. "[aFormat:bFormat:cFormat]"). In this example the plugin is stating that it can operate on "h264" video, which is understood by Gecko. This allows Gecko to know what formats are supported without loading the plugin.

The "Version" field must be a whole non-negative integer value. For EME GMPs, the version of plugin can be requested in the keySystem string when requesting access to the MediaKeys from JavaScript. For example, to ensure you have version 1 of the ClearKey CDM, from JavaScript call navigator.requestMediaKeySystemAccess("org.w3.clearkey.1", ...).

In this example, I am installing the Keeper Password Manager firefox extension. You can find the key by going into about:support within the Firefox address bar, and scroll down to Add-ons. To the right of each Add-on will be the ID - Keep in mind that you'll need to install the extension first in order for it to show up within about:support

Like most browser password managers, Firefox Password Manager is not entirely secure. All browser password managers share similar security flaws. The encryption is easily compromised because browser password managers store the encryption key in a predictable location on your computer. They also stay logged in, even if you close your browser, meaning anyone who has access to your computer will have access to your passwords. Browser password managers, like Firefox, are vulnerable to common malware that targets passwords stored in browsers.

OK. So it sounds like we can forget about using firefox for installing gnome shell extensions starting with Ubuntu 21.10

Honestly that always seemed like a strange approach for installing software anyway.

Is there some other alternative short of manually installation?

Fabulous, thanks Kristen! I'm aware of the current options, and use them, but with this business, I use Firefox. As mentioned, I use a different browser for each business so I can have their outlook, Teams, hubSpot, Wordpress, socials, etc. open for work each day. I'm a startup founder and a consultant - so I run six different browsers (looks sad now I've put it in writing haha). I'll go upvote the option to move along firefox extension dev! Thanks for the quick answer

Please, if you are having a problem, email me (firefox (aT) spanglerco (dOt) com) and I'll be happy to answer you questions. Leaving comments does not allow me to respond, and I want to solve any problems you are having.

Known Bugs

-------------

As of version 2.5.2, Linux support has been fixed. After the first time you open an extension folder, you can find an open.sh script in the Extended folder that you can customize.

As of version 2.8, plugin names should now show correctly.

In The Works (Projected Version)

-------------

- Extension Packaging for backups (3)

- Cross-profile extension management (3)

I studied the following Help page, which seems relatively current: -pdf-extension-firefox-upgraded.html). However, it is not helpful because the extension simply does not appear at all inside Firefox (impossible to enable it via this advice if it is not there to begin with). I tried "repairing" the Acrobat DC install via that function inside Acrobat DC, which did not work. I next uninstalled Acrobat DC and reinstalled it. This also did nothing.

I have the same problem, and I don't think you are reading the problem correcting. There is no extension visible in firefox, so we cannot follow the steps to enable it. It simply doesn't show up at all, so it cannot be selected and enabled. Is there perhaps a place on adobe's site where the extension to be downloaded? or is it actually necessary to nuke the whole installation of Acrobat just to resurface this add-on?

This doesn't work because the extension is completely missing. There is no add-on for this available in the add-on manager. There is no extension to enable because it simply is not there. There's no add-on to add from Firefox's extensions, either, even when I do a search for it. I cannot enable something that isn't there to begin with, i.e., there is nothing there to enable. There is nothing there to drag anywhere. It is simply not there at all. Anywhere.

Here -ubuntu/271-ubuntu-firefox-thunderbird-addon-commandline is mozilla-extension-manager bash script that can automate downloading xpi file, installing and removing Mozilla Firefox extensions (local or globally) via cli (command line) commands without gui.

This article does not apply to Firefox 2 or later. Starting in Firefox 2, you can remove search engines using the new search engine manager, accessible by clicking on the Search Bar icon, then clicking on "Manage Search Engines" from the drop-down list.

With the application closed, open the searchplugins folder in the following locations. Note that Firefox 1.5 and SeaMonkey place manually installed search engines ("custom" search plugins) in the profile folder so you may have search plugins in two locations.

Delete both .src and .gif or .png search plugin files for the search engine you want to remove. For example, to remove the Webster search engine, you would delete the files "webster.src" and "webster.gif". Restart the application and it will be gone.

Independent third parties develop firefox extensions, but the most popular ones are subject to safety testing before Mozilla accepts each new version. So while popular extensions are generally safe, you should take some precautions.

Now that you have mastered the basics let's dig into one more action that you will take regularly, Auto-fill and Auto-save, and three recommended setup steps, easier vault unlocking, pinning the extension to your browser, and disabling the browser's built-in password manager:

In Chrome or any Chromium-based browser (Edge, Opera, and Brave), navigate to the Passwords page by entering chrome://password-manager/settings in the address bar, substituting chrome for your browser name (for example, brave://password-manager/settings).
