If you want a lightweight, all-day companion for running and cycling that plays nice with glasses, choose Plufunex Bone Conduction Headphones; if you need a rugged, waterproof device specifically engineered for underwater swimming and diving, choose DOOGEEEco Bone Air Swim.
• Plufunex: Offers an ultra-light 32g design and a massive 13-hour battery life, but it is not built for underwater immersion.
• DOOGEEEco: Delivers true swim-grade durability with 64GB internal storage and dual-conduction audio, yet its 8-hour wireless battery life is shorter than the competitor's.
• Best for: The Plufunex pick suits active runners and cyclists who prioritize weight and endurance, while the DOOGEEEco choice is essential for open-water athletes who cannot rely on Bluetooth underwater.
The Plufunex Bone Conduction Headphones are clearly engineered for the person who moves constantly without wanting to feel weighed down. At just 32 grams, this unit stands out as one of the lightest options I have analyzed in this category. That low mass is critical for anyone who wears prescription glasses or sports eyewear; the wraparound design distributes pressure evenly, preventing the painful pinch points that often occur when combining heavy headphones with frames. If you are looking for the best rechargeable headband headphones for side sleepers, the profile here is slim enough to minimize interference with your pillow, though the ear-hook structure does protrude slightly more than a flat band.
Battery performance is where this model truly separates itself from the pack. With a claimed 13 hours of continuous playback, you can run multiple long-distance sessions or commute for days without needing to hunt for a charger. The inclusion of Bluetooth 6.0 also suggests a robust connection range of up to 33 feet, allowing you to leave your phone in a locker while still maintaining a stable link. For the runner who needs to switch seamlessly between a laptop for music and a phone for calls, the multipoint connection feature removes the friction of constant re-pairing.

However, you must be aware of the water resistance limits. If your training involves splashing through waves or total immersion, this unit will fail. It is the perfect tool for the outdoor enthusiast who values safety and awareness—keeping ears open to traffic and nature—but it lacks the sealed architecture required for actual swimming.
The DOOGEEEco Bone Air Swim is a specialized tool for a very specific environment: water. Its primary selling point is the ability to function fully underwater, which requires a completely different engineering approach than standard sports headphones. The key differentiator here is the 64GB of built-in storage. Since Bluetooth signals cannot penetrate water, this device allows you to download tracks directly onto the player and listen via MP3 mode without any phone tether. This makes it the only viable option for swimmers who want to ditch their phones entirely during pool laps or ocean swims.
Audio fidelity is another area where this model attempts to excel. By utilizing dual drivers that combine bone conduction with air conduction, the manufacturer aims to deliver deeper bass than typical bone-only devices. This hybrid approach attempts to bridge the gap between the "hollow" sound of traditional bone conductors and the richness of standard earbuds. The frame itself is incredibly light at 26.5 grams, constructed with titanium memory steel wire and silicone ear hooks to ensure a secure fit even when thrashing against water resistance. The included accessories, such as sponge earplugs and a hard carry case, show that the brand anticipates the full logistics of a swimmer's routine.
That said, there are trade-offs to consider regarding battery life and connectivity. The 8-hour battery life in wireless mode is solid, but it falls short of the Plufunex's endurance. Furthermore, the lack of a headphone jack means you are entirely dependent on the magnetic charging cable provided. The Bluetooth 5.4 range is listed at 10 meters, which is sufficient for most gym or poolside scenarios but less expansive than the 33-foot claim of the competitor. If you do not plan to swim, the underwater-specific features become redundant, and you might find the bulkier packaging unnecessary compared to a simpler running headset.
• Best for side sleepers → Plufunex Bone Conduction Headphones: The 32g weight and ergonomic curve create less lateral pressure against a pillow than the stiffer titanium wire found in the swim model.
• Best for swimming → DOOGEEEco Bone Air Swim: Only this model supports 2-meter depth immersion and includes the necessary 64GB onboard storage for offline music.
• Best for battery life → Plufunex Bone Conduction Headphones: A 13-hour runtime beats the 8-hour limit of the DOOGEEEco by a significant margin for long road trips or marathons.
• Best for audio versatility → DOOGEEEco Bone Air Swim: The dual-conduction technology offers a richer sound profile, whereas the Plufunex relies solely on bone transmission.
• Best for glasses wearers → Plufunex Bone Conduction Headphones: Explicitly marketed for compatibility with prescription frames, reducing pressure points better than the generic fit of the swim model.
• Best for weather resilience → Both: Both carry an IP68 rating, ensuring protection against heavy rain and sweat, though only DOOGEEEco handles submersion.
• Best for multi-device users → Plufunex Bone Conduction Headphones: Bluetooth 6.0 multipoint pairing allows seamless switching between two devices, a feature not highlighted for the swim model.
• Best value for casual use → Plufunex Bone Conduction Headphones: Unless you swim regularly, the extra cost and complexity of the swim model may not be justified over the lighter, longer-lasting runner.
In my opinion, if I were buying a single pair of headphones for general fitness, running, and daily commuting, I would choose the Plufunex Bone Conduction Headphones. The combination of its featherlight 32g build, 13-hour battery, and explicit design for glasses wearers makes it the superior daily driver. It feels like a device that disappears on your head, letting you focus entirely on the workout rather than the gear. However, if your lifestyle includes regular swimming, the Plufunex becomes useless the moment you hit the water, forcing you to buy a second device. In that specific case, the DOOGEEEco Bone Air Swim is the only logical choice. Ultimately, for the average user who wants the best lightweight wireless headphones for side sleepers or the noise canceling gaming headphones for side sleepers (though neither has active noise cancellation, the open design helps situational awareness), the Plufunex offers the best balance of comfort and utility.
The Plufunex model, with its 32g weight and curved design, is generally better suited for side sleepers due to lower profile pressure compared to the stiffer titanium frame of the DOOGEEEco swim model. Neither offers active noise cancellation, so ambient room noise will still be heard.
Yes, the DOOGEEEco Bone Air Swim features 64GB of internal storage, allowing you to play music directly from the device via MP3 mode, which is essential for swimming since Bluetooth does not work underwater.
Both products hold an IP68 rating, meaning they are protected against dust and can withstand immersion in water. However, the Plufunex is explicitly noted as not intended for underwater use, whereas the DOOGEEEco is built to survive 2 meters of depth for extended periods.
The Plufunex offers up to 13 hours of continuous playback, whereas the DOOGEEEco provides up to 8 hours in wireless mode. This gives the Plufunex a 5-hour advantage for long-distance activities.
