• PLT Poly Voyager Focus — biggest strength: A voice-first design with an ultra noise-canceling mic boom and HP Poly Acoustic Fence tech, plus a charging stand and dongle for PC/laptop work. It's a headset for talking, not just listening.
• PLT Poly Voyager Focus — biggest trade-off: 25 hours of battery life and a lighter, more restrained sound profile. If you want earth-shaking bass, this isn't the tool.
• Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 — biggest strength: Patented multi-sensory Crusher Bass with dual dedicated bass drivers, up to 60 hours of battery, and a 3.5 mm jack for wired listening.
• Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 — biggest trade-off: It weighs 332 g versus 175 g, charges slower (2.5 hours vs 1.5 hours), and its mic setup is far less specialized for professional calls.
• Who each pick is for: PLT Poly Voyager Focus for remote workers and call-heavy professionals. Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 for bass lovers, gamers, travelers, and movie watchers.
The Voyager Focus 2 is a work headset first and a pair of headphones second. Its headline feature is a discreet ultra noise-canceling microphone boom using HP Poly Acoustic Fence technology — a system designed to isolate your voice from the noise around you so the person on the other end hears you, not your kitchen. That's the whole point. This is a headset engineered around the call.
Comfort is clearly a priority here. The cushioned headband sling and plush ear cushions are built for back-to-back calls and long listening sessions, and at 175 g it stays light on your head. You also get a charging stand, which makes it easy to keep it topped up on a desk. Battery life is rated at 25 hours with a 1.5-hour charge time — solid for a workday-plus, less impressive if you want to disappear for days.
Buy it if you spend your day on calls, live in Teams or a similar platform, and want one headset that handles both meetings and music without shouting at your laptop mic. Skip it if your priority is bass you can feel, a wired option, or maximum battery for travel — this isn't tuned for that.
Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2: Who It's For
The Crusher ANC 2 is the opposite kind of product, and it's proud of it. Its defining feature is patented multi-sensory Crusher Bass technology: two full-range 40 mm drivers plus additional dual bass drivers that turn low frequencies into something you physically feel. If you've ever wanted your music and movies to hit you in the chest, that's the entire pitch. There's even a custom EQ in the app so you can dial the bass exactly where you want it.
Noise cancellation is handled by an adjustable 4-mic ANC system, and the Skullcandy app adds Personal Sound by Mimi plus three modes — Active Noise Canceling, Stay-Aware, and a customizable EQ — so you can switch between blocking the world out and keeping an ear on it. Multipoint pairing lets you stay connected to two devices at once with seamless switching, which is genuinely handy if you're bouncing between a phone and a laptop.
Battery is where this thing runs away: up to 60 hours with ANC off, plus Rapid Charge that gives you 4 hours of listening from a 10-minute top-up. A full charge takes 2.5 hours. You also get a 3.5 mm jack, so you can go wired when you want to — something the Poly doesn't offer. The trade-off is bulk: 332 g on your head and a larger, more recreational build. Controls are push-button and voice rather than touch.
Buy it if you want bass as an experience, long battery for travel and study sessions, wired backup, and app-based sound tuning. Skip it if you need a professional-grade microphone for work calls or you prefer the lightest possible fit.
• Best for work calls and voice clarity → PLT Poly Voyager Focus. The ultra noise-canceling mic boom and Acoustic Fence tech are purpose-built for being heard clearly.
• Best for bass and "feel it" audio → Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2. Dual dedicated bass drivers are the whole reason it exists.
• Best for battery life → Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2. Up to 60 hours versus 25 hours is not close.
• Best for fast top-ups → Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2. A 10-minute Rapid Charge buys 4 hours; the Poly needs 1.5 hours for a full charge.
• Best for light, long-wear comfort → PLT Poly Voyager Focus. At 175 g versus 332 g, it's roughly half the weight.
• Best for PC/laptop connectivity → PLT Poly Voyager Focus. The BT700 dongle, USB-A adapter, and 50 m range make desktop setups painless.
• Best for wired listening → Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2. It's the only one of the two with a 3.5 mm jack.
• Best for tuning your own sound → Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2. App EQ, Personal Sound by Mimi, and preset modes give you far more control.
In my opinion, the right pick comes down to one question: do you get paid to talk, or do you listen for the thrill of it? If your day is meetings and calls, I'd buy the PLT Poly Voyager Focus — the mic, the light 175 g build, and the dongle-plus-stand setup are exactly what a work headset should be. If you want your music to physically move you and your battery to last for days, I'd buy the Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2. Neither is "better." They're just aimed at different ears.
It plays media fine — 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, 32 ohm dynamic drivers — and the cushioned fit suits long listening. But it's voiced and designed around calls, so expect a balanced, work-appropriate sound rather than heavy bass.
The spec sheet rates it at up to 60 hours with ANC off, with a 2.5-hour full charge and a Rapid Charge that gives 4 hours from 10 minutes. That's more than double the Poly's 25 hours.
Both use active noise cancellation, but differently. The Poly gives you three adjustable levels (high, low, off) and pairs it with a noise-canceling mic boom for calls. The Crusher ANC 2 uses a 4-mic system with app modes.
For work-from-home, I'd lean PLT Poly Voyager Focus. The dongle connectivity, charging stand, and call-focused mic make it the more practical desk companion. Choose the Crusher ANC 2 if your home listening is mostly music and movies.
