The Canvas mobile apps require Android 8.0 or later and iOS 15.0 or later. Canvas offers limited support for native mobile browsers on tablet devices. For additional details, please reference the limited-support mobile browser guidelines.

You do not need to install additional software on your computer, to log into Canvas. However, there are some features within Canvas that require the installation of browser Plugins (Flash, Java, etc) and additional Software (Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Office, etc). For additional information, please read the Plugins and Software resource.

First, if you are using a Mobile device, try again using a desktop computer. If you are on a desktop computer, switch browsers. Make sure you are using a secured internet connection (not public wifi). If you are still having trouble, send you Instructor a message, letting them know that you are having trouble, then contact Canvas support.

The Canvas interface was optimized for desktop displays, so using small form factors such as phones may not be a pleasant experience in using Canvas. For the best user experience, please download the Canvas mobile applications.

Previously, the Canvas desktop shortcut opened in the default browser, which is typically Internet Explorer. Earlier this month, Canvas dropped support for Internet Explorer. Google Chrome is officially supported by Canvas.

Conferences support WebRTC (web real-time communication) screen sharing for presenters in Chrome and Firefox desktop browsers. Internet Explorer and Edge browsers are currently not supported. This change promotes an easier screen sharing experience for presenters using Chrome and Firefox desktop web browsers without enabling Java.

Presenters and moderators, or any other conference participant who is able to present during a conference session, can use WebRTC instead of Java in Chrome and Firefox browsers. Presenters and moderators are commonly Canvas users with teacher, facilitator, Course Support, or observer (guest) roles. Presenters can share either a specific application or their entire screen. To share an application, the application should be open before launching the screen share. Additionally, if a presenter does not have multiple monitors and is displaying the browser in full-screen mode, the desktop may not detect all available application windows. Full-screen mode should not be enabled before launching the screen share when sharing specific applications. Please see Canvas Release Notes: WebRTC Web Screen Share for images.

Conference participants can use their mobile devices to view a Canvas conference using a mobile browser. Participants are commonly Canvas users with student roles. Participants can respond to polls, participate in public and private chat, draw on the presentation (when enabled by the presenter), and share their status. This functionality is the same as included in flash-based web conferences except that webcams are not supported and are not shared during the conference session. If a webcam is required, participants should view the conference in a desktop web browser. Please see Canvas Release Notes: HTML5 Mobile Browser Support for images.

Presenters and moderators, or any other conference participant who is able to present during a conference session, must manage conference sessions from a desktop web browser for full conference functionality. Presenters and moderators are commonly Canvas users with instructor or observer (guest) roles.

If you get a 'Stale Request' error when you click on the Zoom link in Canvas, please follow the instructions below for your browser to resolve the error message. If the message persists or you have questions, please email [email protected]

Some people using Mac Safari or Google Chrome will see an error message when accessing Kaltura pages in Canvas. The message states: It seems your browser is blocking 3rd party session cookies which are required for the Kaltura application. To resolve this issue, please update your settings to allow 3rd party cookies.

When using embedded canvas apps such as SharePoint forms, SharePoint web parts, and model driven forms, users may see a black box when scrolling covering part of the app. This issue happens with chromium-based browsers starting with version 83. There is not a workaround at this time. The team is actively investigating to find a fix and workaround. A workaround in Power Apps was deployed in the week of 6/21/2020. In addition, the issue is fixed for Microsoft Edge based on Chromium with version 85.

When you're ready to take a proctored exam, you will need to use one of the supported internet browsers with the Proctorio extension. If not already installed, please download one of the supported browsers below:

Attempt your upload in the incognito or private browser mode and see if this makes a difference (please note that this assumes plugins are not enabled in incognito mode, which may not always be the case.)

I'll agree with the others. Displaying the page/canvas border is a good best practice. If your going to a printer with a PDF, it shows you the non-printable area. If the printer is border-less, this works fine. If it is not, it at least gives you a visual of the page area. You would have to account for the printers margin. It also serves to show if you have gone outside the canvas region. Objects outside the canvas won't display in many cases, like most browsers. If you do turn it off, remember to in document preferences set the page size to the artwork size for web and many other applications and remember the printing ramifications. It also allows centering to page to be visible against the page size.

Some browser plugins or extensions may conflict with Canvas and affect functionality. If you experience behavior that does not allow you to view or participate in Canvas courses, please ensure you have disabled any extensions or plugins that interact directly with your web browser.

Since Canvas uses small elements of Flash, not all Canvas features may be supported on mobile devices, especially on iOS. However, Canvas offers limited support for native mobile browsers on tablet devices. For additional details, please reference the limited-support mobile browser guidelines.

Yes please!! In a virtual world, this would make lives so much easier!! I have 8 bookmarks on my browser to weekly recurring meetings where I am not the host, and this is only bound to increase. If I could just save all of these in my zoom app on my desktop it would be so much faster and smoother to switch between meetings!! ff782bc1db
