Excerpt from a short history of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church written, it is believed, by Ms. Francis Searcy.
" HISTORY OF PLEASANT HILL BAPTIST CHURCH When you go for a visit, you never can tell whom you might meet, nor what effect this meeting may have on your life--and on the lives of others. During the summer of 1948, Carrie Will Smith visited her aunt near Louisville, Alabama. While there, she met Rev. W. H. Faulkner, Associational Missionary of Barbour County. He learned from her that there was no church near her home. In July, 1948, Rev. Faulkner and Rev. B. S. Warr visited in the community now called Pleasant Hill and questioned the people about organizing a church. They discussed the possibilities of organizing a Missionary Baptist Church on Highway 431, about fifteen miles south of Eufaula, Alabama. Prayer meetings were held in various homes. A Sunday School was started soon, and was held under a large pecan tree in Horace Smith's yard. Here too a most successful Bible School was conducted. A revival was held in Bill Aplin's store. As a result of these things, on August 15, 1948, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church was organized with 19 charter members, and a debt-free building was erected on a plot of land given by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Aplin."I did not change any of the grammar, punctuation or spelling.
