A Summer Sensory Gathering
July 2026
July 2026
Families are invited to settle in, explore a simple sensory invitation, and connect with one another as everyone arrives.
We gather together for introductions, a brief mindfulness practice for caregivers, songs, and an overview of the day's play invitations.
Children are invited to move freely between sensory experiences, process art, movement activities, and imaginative play. Caregivers are encouraged to participate, observe, connect, and follow their child's lead.
We come back together for a simple goodbye ritual, reflection, and community connection before heading home.
Week 1: Transformation
Week 2: Light & Shadow
Week 3: Softness & Sound
Week 4: Squish & Slide
Q: Who is Open Hearts for?
A: Open Hearts is designed for toddlers ages 18-36 months and their caregivers. Younger or older siblings are welcome to attend, though activities are planned with young toddlers in mind.
Q: What is the cost of joining the group?
A: A Summer Sensory Gathering is a community-supported summer pilot series. Donations are appreciated, never required.
Q: Do caregivers stay with their child?
A: Yes! Open Hearts is a caregiver-and-child experience. Caregivers remain with their children throughout the gathering and are encouraged to participate in play, reflection, and community connection.
Q: Is Open Hearts only for parents?
A: No! Open Hearts is a space for anyone who regularly cares for the child, including grandparents, family members, and nannies.
Q: What should we bring?
A: Come dressed for outdoor play and a little mess! We recommend bringing water, sunscreen, and anything your child may need to be comfortable outdoors.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: We will gather under the pavillion unless severe weather requires cancellation.
Q: Does my child need to participate in every activity?
A: Not at all! Children are invited to explore at their own pace. Open Hearts values curiosity, observation, and child-led play over participation in any specific activity.
