Each toy is made of different materials, such as fabric, plastic, porcelain, or metal. But commonly share one thing, human remains.
Toys are made of deceased individuals, often those who suffer early or unfair deaths. Each toy is handcrafted by Oliver, using the remains of the individual. While it is not exactly ethical to turn deceased people into toys, Oliver believes he is giving those who have passed a second chance at life.
Once the procedure [of turning humans into toys] is complete, there is usually memory loss for the newly formed toy [such as forgetting their name or personality]. Nevertheless, they typically become accustomed to their new body as time passes.
Moreover, toys do not physically age [albeit with occasional maintenance like sewing cuts or replacing matted fur]. However, they will mentally age, becoming more mature over time. For example, if someone becomes a toy at the age of 20, and 16 years pass, they would be considered 36, while maintaining the same body.
Alongside human components, a substance called Poppy Gel is used to regenerate certain cells in the body. What is this goo made of? I'm not sure, probably red Poppy flowers and amino acids. Maybe some coffee too.
There are two main gel variants:
Unlike Version 2 of the gel, Version 1 somehow screws up the somatosensory system, meaning those comprised of the Version 1 Gel do not feel physical pain, touch, or temperature shifts [I think, idk I'm not good with biology. Look up "somatosensory system" if you're curious]. Additionally, they do not need to eat, though can consume food if desired. It is unknown why they don't have an appetite; probably a glitch in the Gel.
