Risk Game History

The inventor of RISK was the French film director, writer Albert Lamorisse.

Risk originally was released in 1957 as La Conquête du Monde(The Conquest of the World) in France.

The first version of today Risk Game was released in 1986 called Castle Risk and it was focused around the castles in the 18^th century in Europe, later that it was released many times.

In the first editions of Risk, the playing pieces were wooden cubes, but in later versions of the game, these pieces were molded of plastic to reduce costs.

Gameplay

In the gameplay during Risk online multiplayer players may form and dissolve alliances. The biggest goal is to get every territory and eliminate the other players. Risk online can get very lengthy and can get up to several hours or even several days but that’s rare.

The game is made for at least two, and at most 6 players, each of which has its own army color: blue, yellow, black, purple, green or red.

The game consists of a plaque showing the world map in which Europe is in the middle. The continents of South and North America, Asia, Australia, Africa, and Europe are divided into small parts that have a name in some states, provinces or geographical areas(eg. North Africa).

In one deck is the mission of your game, while in the other, the borders of the smaller parts of the map with their names are drawn, and the bottom of the map is drawn a military figure.

Risk Gameplay

The game starts with each player receiving an equal number of cards from those with the areas, all cards and an equal number of troops are shared, the number of the army depends on the number of players (not shared). Then each player pulls only one card with a mission. Alternative options are offered on mission maps (eg, gaining 24 areas or destroying the black army).

After each attack, the attacker has the right to regroup his troops only from one to the other, compulsory adjacent territory and after that can draw a map from the spy out of the territories. This marks the end of his attack on this round and the next player is the next.

The cards that are collected after each attack serve to complement and rebuild the army. If a player collects 3 identical cards or 3 different cards, he has the right to renew the next round before the attack begins. Also, if a player succeeds in keeping the entire continent while it comes back, it gets reinforced by the military as much as the value of that continent (writes on the map which the continent brings).

How is Risk Played?

The course of the game

The player's move consists of three steps:

• Reinforcement

• Attack

• Maneuvering

Step 1: Strengthening

If a player owns the entire continent, he or she will be given additional units. In this case, the player must occupy the entire territory of the continent. The number of units depends on the conquered continent.

• North America: 5 units

• South America: 2 units

• Africa: 3 units

• Asia: 7 units

• Europe: 5 units

• Australia: 2 units

Players can replace their territorial cards with positive reinforcement. They acquire the grounding cards if they conquer the occupied territories. The player can only substitute the card.

Step 2: Attack

The player can attack the territory owned by another player if the territory borders on his territory and has at least two units on the territory he will be attacking. The attacker can use 1, 2 or 3 units (1 unit is always in the territory), and the defender is defending with 1 or 2 units. Each row of cubes, as many units choose to clash. The squad compares the highest score. The attacker loses one unit if the larger dashed point does not reach the defender. Otherwise, the defender loses one unit.

At the end of the conflict, the attacker may decide to: continue the attack on the same territory, attack any other territory, end up with attacks. If an attacker defeats units during the attack, the attacker has won the territory. The attacker must place as many units as he used in that territory At least one unit must remain an attacker even in the territory where the attack took place

Step 3: Maneuvering

When a player stops with the attacks, he can perform a maneuver. He can move several units from one of his own territories to the neighborhood territory; of course, he must leave at least one unit in the former territory. The player can only perform one maneuver.
