LOCAL-MATER Team

Ana E. Platero-Prats obtained my MSc in Crystallography in 2009 and her PhD in Chemistry in 2011 from UAM. She developed her PhD work at Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM-CSIC), under supervision of Prof. Gutiérrez-Pubela and Dr. Snejko. She spent three months at Institute Lavoisier de Versailles (CNRS) with Dr. Horcajada in France and one month in Università degli Studi di Milano with Prof. Proserpio in Italy.

In 2012 she joined the Stockholm University (Sweden) as postdoctoral researcher within the Berzelii Center EXSELENT on Porous Materials.

In 2014, she joined the Argonne National Laboratory (USA) as Beatriu de Pinós fellow. In November 2017, she was awarded with an InterTalentum MSCA-grant to join the UAM. In 2018, she was awarded with a TALENT-CM Modality-1 grant (310.000 EUR) to start her independent career. Since March 2019, she is a member of the Condensed Matter Physics Center (IFIMAC) .

Ana is recipient of a prestigious Ramón y Cajal Fellowship since November 2020.

José María Moreno Rodríguez received his Bsc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cadiz in 2011. Then, he obtained his MSc in Formulation and Technology of Product, working at Cepsa La Rabida Refinery. In 2013, he moved to Institute of Chemical Technology (UPV-CSIC) to complete his PhD in Sustainable Chemistry (2018), supervised by Urbano Díaz in the synthesis of metal-organic materials and study their catalytic properties.

He received the Best Thesis Award in 2018 by the SECAT (Spanish Society of Catalysis). Currently, he works in the post-synthesis modification and catalytic applications of defective Zr-MOFs to degradate toxic chemicals (collaboration with Prof. J. Alemán).

Postdoctoral researcher

Celia Castillo-Blas obtained her Degree in Chemistry from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2013. After obtaining her master degree in Science and Tecnology Chemistry at the same university, she moved to the Institute of Materials Science of Madrid (CSIC) in 2015.

In 2019 she completed her PhD in Chemistry supervised by Felipe Gándara and Ángeles Monge on the desing of metal-organic frameworks with metal-cation arrangement control in secondary building units.

Currently, her postdoctoral reseach focuses on development of defective Zr-MOFs for the capture and degradation of toxic chemicals in water.

Ignacio "Nacho" Romero-Muñiz completed his bachelor’s degree in Universidad de Sevilla before moving to Madrid to Universidad Complutense for his master in Organic Chemistry. Then he spent 10 months in the pharmatheutical company Janssen as Junior Scientist. During this time, he developed an enormous interest in catalysis and mechanisms in chemical reactions.

Currently he is doing his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Platero-Prats on the structural properties and advanced characterization of Metal-Organic Frameworks with catalytic applications using synchrotron radiation techniques.
