Established through the UPES Act, 2003 of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand, UPES is one of the top-ranked, UGC-recognized, private universities. About Department of Physics
The Department of Physics under the Applied Science Cluster is a part of UPES School of Advanced Engineering which offers various programs like B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in the disciplines of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The Applied Science cluster concentrates on the real-world applicability and social impact of science and technology in its carefully crafted curriculum. Given the rapid pace at which the field is evolving, we continuously engage with academic leaders and industry giants to provide leading-edge technology and updated information to our students.
The cluster has a team of highly acclaimed and motivated researchers having exposure to broad research areas including but not limited to material science, nanotechnology, applied optics, modeling & simulation, bio-fuels, composite materials, polymers, photo-catalysis, organic synthesis, solar cells, water treatment, optimization, fluid mechanics, image processing, numerical analysis, differential geometry, etc., and has many government-funded projects from various national and international funding agencies. Our well-equipped laboratories and innovative pedagogy focus on creating links between theory and practice so that students gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject along with practical problem-solving skills.
