Plants grow from seeds or bulbs that are planted in the ground. Seeds can be planted by humans in a garden, or they can be carried by animals or wind. Some plants have flowers that bloom or turn into fruits, nuts, or vegetables. Most plants grow during the spring and summer, and some have fruits ready to harvest in the fall. Some plants stay short and close to the ground, like mosses and shrubs. Other plants grow wide and tall, like Sequoia trees that can grow to be over 300 feet tall.
Some animals grow from eggs, like fish, snakes, and birds. Mammals are born live from their mothers, like we are! Some animals live short lives, like flies that live for about a week. Some animals live long lives, like tortoises that can live over a hundred years. There are animals that live together in groups or pairs for their whole lives, such as wolves, monkeys, and beavers. Other animals live alone once they are old enough to leave their mothers, such as rhinos, bears, and skunks!
