If you want a lightweight, over-ear headset with a rotating microphone and passive comfort for long calls, choose Plantronics Poly Blackwire 3320; if you need active noise cancellation, a dedicated call controller with programmable buttons, and an on-ear design for office monitoring, choose Jabra Engage 50.
• Plantronics Poly Blackwire 3320: Offers exceptional all-day comfort with padded ear cushions and a rotating mic, but lacks active noise cancellation and requires a wired connection without extra controls. Best for users who prioritize silence and physical comfort during marathon Teams sessions.
• Jabra Engage 50 II: Delivers superior sound isolation via Active Noise Cancellation and adds a powerful USB-C Link Call Control Unit with programmable features, though the on-ear fit may be less comfortable for some over extended periods. Best for contact center agents or busy professionals needing quick access to mute and hold functions.
The Plantronics Poly Blackwire 3320 is built for the user who spends hours glued to their screen, communicating through Microsoft Teams or Skype for Business. Its defining characteristic is how it feels rather than just what it does. Weighing in at only 210 grams, this headset is engineered to be virtually unnoticeable on your head. The over-ear enclosure wraps around your ears with padded cushions that distribute pressure evenly, making it a joy to wear from morning stand-ups until late-night reporting. If you are looking for foldable earbuds for xbox or any solution where you need to move your head freely without the headset digging into your skull, this form factor shines.
The audio experience is tuned for clarity and safety. It utilizes Dynamic EQ to automatically adjust sound levels, ensuring you hear every word clearly without sudden volume spikes. More importantly, SoundGuard technology protects your ears from potential damage, which is a critical feature when you are listening to conference calls for eight hours straight. The microphone is another standout; it rotates 180 degrees, allowing you to flip it up or down depending on whether you are speaking or listening. This flexibility means you can position it perfectly for your mouth angle on either side of your head.

However, this headset operates strictly as a wired device with no wireless capabilities. It relies on Passive Noise Cancellation, meaning it blocks out some ambient sound simply by sealing your ear, but it cannot electronically erase the hum of an air conditioner or chatter in an open office. If you work in a very noisy environment and need more than just physical sealing to focus, this might not be enough. It is also designed specifically for communication rather than music, so while the frequency range covers 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, the tuning is optimized for voice fidelity. You should skip this model if you require a controller to manage your calls remotely or if you are hunting for the best wireless earbuds for xbox, as this unit connects directly via USB-C and stays tethered to your PC.
The Jabra Engage 50 II takes a different approach, focusing heavily on control and environmental isolation. This headset is ideal for professionals who need to manage complex call flows without taking their hands off the keyboard. The centerpiece of its value proposition is the included Link Call Control Unit. This small USB-C box sits on your desk and acts as a command center, featuring a volume wheel, dedicated buttons for call, mute, and hold, and even a re-programmable Busylight. The LED light provides visual cues, glowing purple when connected to Microsoft Teams, pulsing when you receive a notification, and turning green when you are actively on a call. This visual feedback loop is invaluable in a busy office where you might miss a ringtone.
Where the Jabra truly distinguishes itself is in its Active Noise Cancellation. Unlike the passive sealing of the Blackwire, this technology actively detects and cancels out low-frequency background noise. If you sit near a printer, a coffee machine, or a busy street outside, the Jabra will scrub away those distractions much more effectively. The on-ear design places the earpiece directly against the ear rather than surrounding it. While this makes the headset feel lighter and less isolating physically, it allows you to remain aware of your surroundings when needed, which is often preferred in collaborative team settings. The unit weighs just 124.4 grams, making it one of the lighter options available for business communication.
This headset is certified for Microsoft Teams and works seamlessly with other platforms, ensuring compatibility across your entire tech stack. However, the on-ear style means the clamping force is different from over-ear models, and some users might find them less comfortable for multi-hour shifts compared to the plush padding of the Blackwire. Additionally, while it offers robust call management, it does not have the same rotating microphone flexibility as the Poly option; the mic is fixed to the ear cup. If you are looking for on ear headphones for xbox or similar gaming setups where a fixed mic might interfere with movement, you might reconsider, but for strict business use, the Jabra offers a level of professional utility that is hard to beat.

I would choose the Jabra Engage 50 II for my own setup because the Active Noise Cancellation and the physical call controller save me more time and frustration than the rotating microphone saves the Plantronics. In a real-world scenario, being able to mute instantly with a button on my desk and having the noise-canceling tech block out a noisy kitchen while I take a call is a productivity booster that outweighs the slightly less plush ear cups. That said, if your primary concern is purely physical comfort during a 10-hour shift, the Plantronics Poly Blackwire 3320 remains a strong contender for those specific needs. Ultimately, for anyone using these devices for serious work, the Jabra's feature set provides a more complete business communication tool.
While both support audio drivers, neither is marketed as a gaming headset like foldable earbuds for xbox, but the Plantronics' over-ear design and rotating mic might offer a slightly more immersive experience for casual play, whereas the Jabra is strictly optimized for business voice clarity.
No, the Jabra Engage 50 II is designed for PC and mobile via USB-C and is not natively compatible with Xbox consoles, so it is not a viable option for best wireless earbuds for xbox usage.
No, the Plantronics Poly Blackwire 3320 is a wired USB-C headset that requires a direct connection to a host device like a laptop or desktop to function.
Both include protective technologies; the Plantronics uses SoundGuard to prevent volume spikes, while the Jabra uses Active Noise Cancellation to reduce the need to turn up the volume in noisy environments.
