If you want maximum wireless freedom, military-grade security, and all-day battery life for high-stakes conversations, choose Plantronics Poly Savi 7310; if you need a lightweight, plug-and-play wired solution optimized specifically for Microsoft Teams productivity at your desk, choose Cisco Headset 321Q.
• Plantronics Poly Savi 7310: Delivers up to 13 hours of talk time with a massive 580-foot wireless range and FIPS 140-2 encryption, but its DECT-only design means it lacks Bluetooth and requires a base station.
• Cisco Headset 321Q: Offers an ultra-lightweight, single-ear on-ear design with instant USB-A plug-and-play setup and dedicated Teams controls, but it is tethered to your computer and offers only passive noise isolation.
• Who each pick is for: The Poly Savi 7310 is built for mobile professionals in secure environments who move around, while the Cisco 321Q is ideal for stationary office workers focused on Teams efficiency.
The Plantronics Poly Savi 7310 is engineered for a specific type of professional: someone who needs absolute privacy and the ability to walk away from their desk without losing connection. This isn't just a headset; it is a complete system designed to meet the highest enterprise security expectations. If your work involves sensitive data in financial, medical, or government sectors where Bluetooth technology is often banned due to security risks, this unit is the logical choice. It relies on Ultra-Secure DECT technology rather than standard Bluetooth, utilizing 256-bit AES encryption that meets military-grade standards. You aren't just making calls; you are protecting them.
The wireless freedom provided here is genuinely expansive. With a line-of-sight range of up to 580 feet (180 meters), you can step out of the office, walk through a warehouse, or move between floors without worrying about signal drops. This makes it an excellent candidate for the best headband headphones for commuting scenarios where you might be moving between different locations, though its primary strength lies in the large office environment. The adaptive power control ensures the radio signal covers only the area you need, preventing interference with other users while maintaining a robust connection. Furthermore, the 13-hour talk time means you can start your day before breakfast and finish after dinner without hunting for a charger, a critical feature for long shifts.

However, this level of security and range comes with trade-offs. The device uses a single-ear wearing style, which might not suit everyone, and it lacks Bluetooth connectivity entirely. You cannot pair it wirelessly with your smartphone or tablet for music streaming; it is strictly a voice communication tool. The audio frequency range of 300 Hz to 3400 Hz is optimized for human speech clarity rather than high-fidelity music listening. If you are looking for hifi stereo over ear headphones for commuting to enjoy podcasts or music during travel, this system will feel too narrow in its scope. It also requires a charging station and is heavier at 1.5 pounds compared to many consumer options, so it is not designed for sleeping or casual relaxation. It is a tool for serious business, nothing more.
In stark contrast, the Cisco Headset 321Q is designed for the worker who lives at their desk and wants to streamline their interaction with Microsoft Teams. This is a wired, single-on-ear solution that prioritizes lightweight comfort and immediate usability over wireless range. At just 0.18 kg, it is significantly lighter than the Poly system, making it a strong contender for those seeking lightweight sleep headphones for commuting in the sense of being unobtrusive enough to wear for extended periods without neck strain, though it is not intended for actual sleep. The on-ear placement with passive noise suppression and sound isolation helps block out general office chatter, allowing you to focus on the call in front of you.
The standout feature here is the seamless integration with Microsoft Teams. A dedicated button allows you to join meetings, answer, end, or hold calls instantly. When a meeting starts, the LED button lights up, and you receive an in-ear notification, ensuring you never miss a scheduled huddle. This "one-button-to-join" experience saves precious seconds every time, which adds up over a busy week. The setup is as simple as plugging the USB-A cable into your computer; there are no drivers to install, no base stations to configure, and no complex pairing processes. It is a true plug-and-play device that respects the user's time. The uni-directional ECM noise-canceling microphone works hard to minimize background noise, keeping nearby conversations private even without the advanced acoustic fence technology found in higher-end models.
The trade-off for this simplicity is the lack of mobility. Being a wired headset, you are tethered to your PC by the length of the USB cable. You cannot wander the building or take calls while walking through a parking lot. Additionally, it uses passive noise cancellation rather than active electronic cancellation, meaning it relies on physical fit and materials to dampen sound rather than generating anti-noise waves. The audio frequency range of 300 Hz to 3,000 Hz is slightly narrower than the Poly's upper limit, focusing purely on telephony frequencies. If you value versatility and the ability to use the headset with multiple devices via Bluetooth, this unit will feel restrictive. It is a dedicated tool for the Microsoft Teams ecosystem, offering peace of mind with a two-year limited liability warranty and easy access to spare ear cushions.
