In societies where herbal products represent either the main resource in meeting primary healthcare needs, or either, the preferential choice to replace or complement the use of synthetic, mono-substance pharmaceuticals, ensuring and monitoring the high quality and safety of these products is essential to protect the consumer's health, and implicitly to restore the consumer confidence in herbal products authenticity.
PlantCheck will develop, test, and propose an integrated approach for the quality assessment along the value chain of botanicals and herbal food supplements, in order to enhance their transparency and reliability.
