Sharing is caring! Posters give everyone a chance to plan, organize and present their thoughts and data.
1) CURIOSITY BOARD. Observe ANY scientific phenomenon and explain it on one 8.5 x 11" page. You can upload your file below, and they will all be combined into BEAKERS, our electronic Scientific Journal. If you're coming to the fair, print out your board and post it on the Curiosities Wall on Fair Day!
2) EXPERIMENT POSTER. Design a scientific experiment to prove or disprove a theory. Post your results on a tri-fold poster board and bring to Fair Day to share!
3) INVENTION POSTER. Design an invention to solve a problem. Post your drawings on a tri-fold poster board and/or bring your prototype to Fair Day to share!
Plain boards can be found for $1 at Dollar Store. They don't have to be fancy. Remember to use GIANT titles and THICK letters so people can read from a standing distance (8' away). Colorful pictures or diagrams are fun to look at!
Please use Google Docs or Microsoft Word. Include:
1) An exciting TITLE and YOUR NAME
2) A PICTURE or labelled DIAGRAM. You can add an image from your computer (such as a photo of your handmade drawing), or a clear diagram from the internet. There should be a little button in the toolbar to Insert an Image.
3) An EXPLANATION of some scientific phenomenon.
Please use YOUR NAME, TEACHER and GRADE in the file name, so we know who you are!
For example: "Tom Smith in Mrs Lee 1st grade.doc"

If you want to test a theory, design a controlled experiment! That means, just test if ONE FACTOR creates a measurable change. Ask an interesting question (weird is good!) - something people will actually want to read about! Scientists collect their data by following the Scientific Method:
1) Introduction (or Problem)
2) Hypothesis (your guess for the outcome of the experiment)
3) Materials you used
4) Procedure
5) Results
6) Conclusion
If you want to invent or build something, try following the Engineering Design Process - it's a process that Engineers and Designers use!
1) Identify a need and its constraints
2) Research what others have done, gather materials
3) Design and Brainstorm. Make a plan, a drawing and a cheap prototype.
4) Create. Use your plans to build the real thing.
5) Test your idea.
6) Improve. Repeat steps 3-6 to get the best possible result!
