This Cosmic Measurement Chart shows the data used for the diameters of each planet given in both values; Kilometers (km) and the unit we used to measure the diameters of our neighbouring planets, the Earth Unit (EU).
The Earth Unit (EU) was derived by taking the kilometer (km) value of each planets diameter and dividing it by the diameter of Earth also in kilometers (12, 756 km).
You're going to need a calculator for this part, along with your pencil and paper.
Below you'll se where I calculated the first Earth Unit (EU) ratio using the planet Mercury. The value that the calculator gives for each division should be rounded to 2 decimal places. This is a neccessary practice to illimainate writing down vast quantities of numbers.
Recap:
Remember that to round the values to 2 decimals places you analyze the third number behind the decimal point. If its below 5 (including 0) the third value is unchanged. However, if it's 5 and above (stopping at 9) the third value increases by 1.
Example:
0.472646; The 3rd number is 2, this is lower than 5. Therefore, the 2nd value '7' is unchanged and the rounded number becomes '0.47'.
0.279392: The 3rd number behind the decimal in this case is 9 which is greater than 5. Thus, the 2nd value '7' is increased by 1 and the rounded number becomes '0.28'.
