Inspire2Dev Hackathon on 8/6, 9AM-4:30PM
Inspire2Dev invites students entering Grades 6-9 to its free online 2022 Summer Hackathon on August 6, 9AM-4:30PM PDT. Students with or without experience in STEM or coding are welcome. There will be opportunities to collaborate with peers on projects, meet STEM mentors, and hear presentations by speakers in STEM fields. Various prizes and awards will be presented in the closing ceremony. Sign up here.

Broad Institute: What Will It Take to Make Clinical Genomics part of Everyday Medicine: August 1st
Broad Institute is hosting a Virtual lecture on Genomics presented by Clinical Geneticist Heidi Rehm. It took $2.7 billion and nearly 20 years to create the first human genome. Genomes are already regularly sequenced by labs all over the globe for a minute fraction of the time and expense. This lecture will discuss how it is used.

All Massachusetts members of Congress have joined other House colleagues in hosting the Congressional App Challenge. Students in Grades 6-12 may register, as individuals or in teams of up to four, in the Congressional District in which they live or attend school. Apps may be created in any language, on any platform, on any theme or purpose. They must be submitted by November 1. Submissions will be evaluated by local judges who work in academic, software, and entrepreneurial fields. The winning app from each participating Congressional District will be announced in December and will have their apps highlighted online and in an exhibit in the Capitol.
Extreme Heat Forum: Boston, Wed July 20
Climate change affects us all and is definitely affecting Boston, a city known for snow. This year the city is hosting an in person forum about climate change. It will be on the evening of July 20th and there will be activities with provided materials about and to learn about Climate Change.
Richards Memorial Library STEAM days
The North Attleboro Richards Memorial library is hosting STEAM days for kids 3+ through July and August. They have events every Wednesday and Thursday. They have activities like Snap-Circuits, Lego-Contraptions and a Marble Run.
If you’re looking for something to do in the heat of July then you should try out Instructables. The site has lots of people creating instructions for accessible projects that you can do at home. If you have something to share, you can create an instructable or enter one of its contests, which they host constantly with prizes ranging from 50 to hundreds of dollars.
This program is a perfect opportunity to learn the fields of STEM. This Monday thru Wednesday course is jam packed with hands-on learning and creativity. Students will learn Bee Bot coding, lego challenges, upcycle engineering and even create Story Art! Register now before tickets are sold out.
Planet Robotics FLL Challenge season begins soon
Planet Robotics FLL class will begin in Fall 2022. FLL Challenge is a competitive robotics program for children in grade 4th-8th. Students will learn to build and program Spike Prime LEGO robots and solve missions on the board and design innovative projects in the theme of the season-"Super Powered" and learn to work together in a team.
FLL Challenge season begins the week of September 3rd. The competition is expected to be from mid-Nov -mid-Dec. Each team will have 8-10 kids.

Tech Tiger's Summer Robotics Classes
This year the Tech Tigers are hosting First robotics classes Aug 15th - 19th. Make sure to bring your laptop! Students will learn how to design, build, and program Spike Prime lego robots. They will also build attachments to solve mission challenges.
Creative Computing Summer Camp
The Rhode Island Computer Museum is hosting a summer camp where kids ages 9 through 14 work hands-on with electronics and learn soldering to 3D printing to coding. Students participating will have to come in person to a Learning Lab in North Kingston on Aug 8-12th from 9AM to noon. Total fee for all sessions is $300 dollars and must be paid upon arrival. The schedule of activities will look something like this:

Concert will be held at Telford Park, 142 South St. Marcos Valles of Rockabye Beats hopes to recreate that fun, family atmosphere where he learned about music for young children who are experiencing it for the first time. As a result, Rockabye Beats is more than just an entertaining music program - it's a place where friends are made and families grow closer together by creating music together! This program was made possible with support from the Plainville office of the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Friends of the Plainville Public Library.
Top Secret Science from 8/22 to 8/26
Over the past 25 years, Top Secret Science (www.TopSecretScience.org) has worked hands-on with over 1,200,000 local children. Each day the kids will explore weird and wacky hands-on science experiments and will make and take home all the projects. The scientists are fast paced and funny and your kids will be thoroughly entertained (they’ll even learn some interesting things too). Be prepared for lots of fun stuff. Top Secret Science is held at Mason Fieldhouse (446 Elm Street), M-F, 9-3pm and costs $315.

Khan Academy and the Breakthrough Junior Challenge video contest is hosting a contest where students ages 13 through 18 are invited to create a short— 90 seconds and under — video explaining a challenging concept in physics, mathematics, or the life sciences in an engaging, illuminating, and creative way.
MIT’s Summer Virtual HSSP, Saturdays July 9-Aug. 13
Students entering Grades 7-12 (plus those who just graduated) are invited to register for MIT’s Summer HSSP, which will run virtually on six Saturdays, 1PM-4PM, July 9 – August 13. Register by June 26 with your preferences for classes to be entered in the lottery for class assignment. The total cost is $40, regardless of the number of classes taken, and generous need-based financial aid is available. The fee is paid after the lottery results are announced, during the period in which remaining seats may be reserved on a first-come/first-served basis. Congressional App Challenge registration opens June 15th
Join Members of Congress and Apple to celebrate the launch of the 2022 Congressional App Challenge next Wednesday, June 15th at 12:00 pm ET. Hear from Members of Congress about what they're looking forward to during the 2022 Congressional App Challenge and learn directly from the Apple Education team about how you can prototype and build real iOS apps in Swift Playgrounds 4.1. Apple Education's demonstration will feature engaging tutorials, the ability to build apps using SwiftUI, and an all-new App Gallery with sample apps that walk through important concepts. During the session, Apple will show how to take an idea and turn it into a working user interface in Swift Playgrounds, and they’ll share resources to help you build amazing apps.

Rhode Island Computer Museum Summer Camp
Do you like coding? Do you like 3D printing? If so, this camp is for you! This camp is for ages 9 - 14 and takes place in August. The RICM will be running a 5 day summer day camp this year August 8-12 from 9:00am-12:00 Noon. The camp registration is $300 and they are limiting enrollment to 12 students per session.You can sign up here.
Students grades 4-8 will learn step by step how to design and build lego robots using Spike Prime Kits, build attachments to complete challenge missions, program the robot using a block-based or text-based programming language. It is run by the Tech Tigers; the 2021 MA FLL State Champions, winners of several international awards, and are ranked 3rd in MA for FTC robotics. Emagination Tech Camp, is a summer camp, that is a day or overnight camp. In this camp you can choose between learning about technology, or you can learn how to code!
MassBay BioMimicry Workshop July 19
On July 19, Massbay is holding a completely online Zoom workshop about Biomimicry. Biomimicry is essentially learning how nature does things and mimicking them to solve our problems. Celebrate the Launch of James Webb Telescope
The James Webb Space Telescope — 3 times larger than the Hubble and 100 times more powerful — has been under development for 25 years and is now scheduled to launch at 7:22AM on December 22. It’s designed to see if there’s life on exoplanets and also to peer back to see the first stars and galaxies formed after the Big Bang. Framingham State University’s McAuliffe Center will host an online celebration of the launch (free) at that time and also invites everyone to celebrate ahead of time, in-person at its Holiday Program, December 17 & 18, 4PM-7PM ($5 per person).
Massachusetts Science Fair!
MSEF stands for the Massachusetts Science and Engineering Fair. MSEF is open to Middle and High schoolers to enter science fair projects! Virtual Moon Simulation
On december 28, the Christa McCaulliffe Center at Framingham University is hosting a virtual Moon Simulation Event! Participants will be able to launch and fly Blue Origin's reusable launch vehicle, New Glenn, and explore the Moon's surface using Blue Origin's lunar lander, Blue Moon. Are Aerospace Engineers Really More Intelligent?
The next time you hear the phrase “it’s not rocket science”, don’t feel discouraged! According to the British Medical Journal, “Rocket scientists and brain surgeons are no smarter than the general population”. Evidence shows that neurosurgeons and aerospace engineers have around the same levels of intelligence as the rest of the population.

Made with math Instructables contest; Closes December 6th
This competition hosted by Instructables challenges people to pull out those protractors, fire up their calculators and grab their rulers. This is competition for any project that involves math. From CNC to coding, measuring to marking anything that uses math is eligible. This competition closes on the 6th of December, and the prizes include a $500 grand prize.
Computer Science For Elementary; Programming Games from Nov 30 to Dec 16
In this class, elementary school students will play a different coding game each week - from Sequence Sector to Loopy Lagoon and more - and build coding skills to tackle their own programming of games like Flappy Bird. Students love a gamified approach to learning computer programming skills, and will especially love seeing their efforts result in computer games they can play themselves.
Boys & Girls Club of Newton has a wide range of STEM programs for the winter session from Nov 29th to Jan 31st. Programs include Teen robotics, STEM Engineering, Short Movie making,Girls who Code.
At first glance, it might look like lobsters and jellies have nothing in common — but that's not exactly true! To start, both of these unique animals are invertebrates. In this live, online class, you’ll get up close and personal with stinging jellies and spiny lobsters at the South Carolina Aquarium.
Public Telescope Night on Dec 3rd and 4th
Join New England SCI-TECH for a night of stargazing. On a typical evening, they might be able to see the moon, planets, stars, space station, and other objects in the night sky.

Virtual MIT Splash for grade 9-12,to be held on Nov. 20-21
MIT Splash will be held remotely on November 20-21, for Grades 9-12. Mini-courses taught by MIT undergraduates (9AM-9PM on Saturday and 9AM-6PM on Sunday). The initial course lottery registration has closed, and now remaining spaces will be filled first-come/first-served for those registering November 11-15. The cost is $40 regardless of the number of courses taken, and financial aid is available. This year’s catalog includes over 160 courses in Computers and Programming, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, and other subjects. For more information, email splash@mit.edu.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is again hosting its Airport Design Challenge for individuals or teams of up to five students in Grades K-12, from November 15 through January 14. Participants use the free version of Minecraft to design virtual airports based on guidance from FAA aerospace and engineering experts. Participating students meet aviation professionals, engage with other designers, and learn about the aerospace industry. Parents/guardians of students register here. The Airport Design Challenge is a seven-week interactive, learning and collaboration opportunity which begins on November 15, 2021 and concludes on January 14, 2022. The FAA Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Aviation and Space Education (AVSED) Program organizes and sponsors this exciting challenge.
Clark University Fall Splash for Grades 5-12

Boston College Splash for Grades 7-12, on Nov 14th
Boston College will hold BC Splash on Sunday, November 14, in-person. Splash is a one-day, student-run program in which undergraduates and graduate students teach mini-courses for students in Grades 7-12. There will be a parallel Parent Program about admissions and financial aid, sample splash classes, student panels, and campus tours There’s a $5 fee for the day, which includes a pizza lunch. eCYBERMISSION virtual STEM competition for grades 6-9
eCYBERMISSION is a web-based STEM competition for students in grades 6-9. Each team needs 2-4 students, an adult mentor, a community problem to explore or try to solve. Teams choose one of the two paths: Science- Asking a question/exploring a problem, or Engineering-solving a problem.
North East US Ecosystem Data Jam
This competition challenges students in middle and high school to creatively tell science stories about marine life on the North east continental shelf. You choose from Data sets organized in different levels by difficulty that are created by professional scientists. You then look for trends and draw conclusions about the patterns they see in the data. Once you feel that you have a solid understanding it is your job to create a creative presentation. Instructables Tinkercad contest
This contest is held by Instructables and asks you to create cool projects using Tinkercad that can be in one of 5 different categories for prizes! This contest closes on October 18th.
In this all access event you will learn about the experience STEM jobs have to offer, by STEM visionaries across the nation. You can see this through daily livestreams on September 20-24th. You can also watch it on demand on your TV. See website for more details. No payment is required.
Space Weather and Take Cover the Sun’s Getting Stormy

My World of Science at Middleboro Public Library
My World of Science- STEAM: This monthly program is for families with children ages 3-5 yrs. It is happening on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 10:30 am to 11:15 am. It will include various science topics each month such as Colors, Animals, “Can You Guess What I Am?”, etc. Children will participate in activities related to the topics through art, songs, experiments, literacy connections and movement. Stem Lab at Worcester Public Library
Have you ever drawn in 3D, launched a balloon rocket, tested experiments,or built the tallest tower using only school supplies? Join us weekly for this fun, hands-on lab relating to different science, technology, engineering, and math concepts. For children ages 8-11. Masks are required for all participants. K-12 Science Club for Girls : October This STEM program is mainly for those that are underrepresented in STEM(i.e. those of color, or demonstrating economic need). It starts in October and runs for 8 weeks. All of the activities are hands-on and all materials are provided and distributed at the start of the semester.

NASA TechRise Challenge: Design Experiments for- Sub-Orbital Flight
The NASA TechRise Challenge is now open for teams of students in Grades 6-12 to design experiments to be run either in a sub-orbital rocket or in a high-altitude balloon. A team may have any number of students, and all team members must be from the same school. Each team must have one Team Lead who is a teacher or school employee. Designs must be submitted by November 3. Winners will be announced on January 21. Fifty-seven teams with winning designs will each receive a grant of $1,500 to build their experiments, technical support and office hours with mentors, as well as an assigned spot on a NASA-sponsored commercial suborbital flight.
All Massachusetts members of Congress have joined other House colleagues in hosting the Congressional App Challenge. Students in Grades 6-12 may register, as individuals or in teams of up to four, in the Congressional District in which they live or attend school. Apps may be created in any language, on any platform, on any theme or purpose. They must be submitted by November 1. Submissions will be evaluated by local judges who work in academic, software, and entrepreneurial fields. The winning app from each participating Congressional District will be announced in December and will have their apps highlighted online and in an exhibit in the Capitol.

MIT Museum Teen Programming Council: Volunteering opportunities for high school students
The MIT Museum is looking for creative, dedicated, and inspired teens to join our Teen Programming Council at the MIT Museum in Cambridge, MA. This program creates opportunities for local high school students to connect with MIT researchers while building leadership, collaboration, and organizational skills through the planning of Teen Science Café events for their peers.
