Take our Community Survey!
In 2023, the Town of Argyle received a grant from the New York State Department of State to undertake the creation of a joint Comprehensive Plan with the Village of Argyle. The community has partnered with the Lake Champlain–Lake George Regional Planning Board to prepare the joint plan.
The Town and Village of Argyle Comprehensive Plan is being developed through public outreach and engagement with residents, business owners, farmers, community organizations, and other stakeholders. This collaborative process will help ensure the plan reflects local priorities while addressing emerging challenges and long-term opportunities facing both communities.
The planning process is guided by a Project Advisory Committee composed of Town and Village representatives, community members, and elected officials who are working collaboratively to shape a coordinated vision for Argyle’s future.
Join us on August 6th at the Argyle Town Hall for a public workshop!
The August 6th workshop will open with a brief presentation on the Comprehensive Plan process, followed by a question-and-answer session. Attendees will then participate in an open house format, engaging with interactive poster boards to share their input on a range of community topics, including:
• Housing preferences and needs
• Youth sports and recreation opportunities
• Public programming interests
• Types of playground equipment
A comprehensive plan is a long-term, strategic document that establishes a shared vision for the future growth and development of a community. It serves as a guiding framework for local decision-making and policy development across key areas such as land use, transportation, housing, economic development, public services, and environmental resources.
To engage the community
To guide growth and development decisions
To ensure a successful future
A Comprehensive Plan is:
A blueprint for the future
A decision-making guide
A basis for policy and land use decisions
Flexible and adaptive
A Comprehensive Plan is not:
A zoning ordinance or regulation
Rigid and unchanging
Specific in scope
Public engagement and community feedback plays a vital role in this planning process. Residents, visitors, and business owners will have multiple opportunities to learn about the plan and share their input through surveys and public workshops.
