Placekeeper is built to run entirely on the device and to keep everything saved in it private. There is no account to create, nothing to log in to, and no name, email, or other personal detail required. Open the app and everything works right away.
Placekeeper does not collect, store, transmit, or sell personal data. The app contains no analytics, trackers, advertising, or crash-reporting services, and it does not gather usage statistics, device identifiers, IP addresses, location data, or diagnostic information. All data entered in the app is stored locally in an encrypted database on the device, along with app settings, including the app-lock password. Backup files are created only at the user's request, are encrypted with a password chosen by the user, and are written only to the location or app the user selects. Placekeeper does not receive backup files or keep copies of them. Tapping a saved phone number, address, or link hands it to the device's dialer, maps, or browser, which are separate apps operating under their own terms, and Placekeeper performs no networking for any of these actions. The app holds internet permission for a single purpose: processing the optional one-time Premium purchase through Google Play Billing. Payment is handled by Google under its own privacy policy and terms. Placekeeper does not receive or store payment details, and the app receives only confirmation that a purchase completed, which is stored locally to unlock Premium features.
Placekeeper requests no sensitive permissions, including contacts, camera, microphone, or location, and operates within Android's standard app sandbox. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data in system settings removes all data the app stored on the device, while backup files exported by the user remain wherever they were saved and stay under the user's control. If a future version introduces new connectivity or new data handling, this policy will be updated before that feature ships.
