Okay, you are not going to believe what just happened - I actually used my Doodlepops. If you are a Doodlebug fan like I am, you may understand the huge accomplishment that this is. Yes, the Doodlepops are the product I spend the most time admiring when a new collection comes out. And yes, they then usually go into my collection box where I have them all organized into theme (I blame my sticker collecting days as a child for this). But not today people, not today! Today, I made cards!

And the shaker pop, like this one called Fineus and Friends, take detail and cuteness to the next level. For this card, I simply added a few pieces of the 6x6 paper onto one of the My Happy Place Cards & Envelopes, embellished with a few flower shapes from the Bits and Pieces and the card was finished in all it's layered cuteness!

I can then group everything together and am ready to cut. The top of the turkey will cut out from the part of the place card that folds to the back. The turkey pops up above the fold. You can write your names on the card yourself, but my handwriting is not great so I chose to use sketch pens.

When I was designing the mood board for our wedding and dreaming up decor ideas, I had a lot of hexagons and geometric shapes throughout because it was one of the main ways I wanted to represent the "modern" aspect of our event. (If you're interested you can see more images of our wedding here!) I thought marble hexagon place card tiles would fit in perfectly with the rest of our decor and styling.

I fully appreciate the magic that is marble and hexagons, and I hope that's why you're here too! The place cards I did for my own wedding are still one of the most talked-about and memorable aspects of the day. If you're looking to do these for your own event too, read on for how to DIY these marble hexagon place cards!

That's it! It's really just the prep work that gets you but the end result is so worth it in my opinion. Your guests will most likely take theirs home after the wedding as a keepsake (our guests did!) and even if they don't, they'll remember those place cards for a long time after.

Doesn't it sound like such a dream to elope in a cozy coffee shop with the love of your life? I thought so too, which is how this idea was dreamed up in the first place. More photos by Melody Joy of the all the amazing details below!

The other great part about this plan is that if it works I get a bunch of awesome designs on the site for free. This is important because I am design-impaired and have no idea how I would get nice designs on the site otherwise (without paying for them).

I have another place card DIY for you all! As promised from the last post, I'm going to take you through how I made the place cards from the Filigree Suppers dinner. These are great for a modern baby shower, bridal shower, dinner party, wedding, basically any event where you need simple but impressive place cards. Let's get started!

1. Decide what size your finished place cards will be. If you want them tented, make sure to double the height of what you want the finished size to be. I made mine about 3.5x3.5 because I wanted them to be about 1.75 inches tall in the end.

2. Using your x-acto knife and cork-backed ruler (safety first! press down on your ruler to keep it steady - I was taking photos with my other hand so this is just a demo), cut your cards out on the cutting mat to protect your surface. A T-square is really useful here to get perfect right angles, but this is optional. Alternatively, you can buy pre-cut place cards, but you'll probably have to make your own if you have a specific paper you want to use. Also, if you plan to do a lot of paper crafting or similar activities, it's a good idea to have your own cutting supplies!

3. If you're tenting your place cards, find the vertical middle and score your cards across so that you can fold them without creating weird, bumpy creases. You can use a bone folder to crease it more crisply, if you like.

4. After protecting your work surface, take your copper paint or paint pen and fill in the bottom 1/4th or so of the place card in an organic shape. If you prefer, you can use a ruler and make it perfectly straight, but I kind of liked that it was imperfect and unique for each card.

"I knew I wanted to have Mr. P's place cards at my wedding, but I didn't expect to have such a lovely and personal encounter while working with Karen and Martin! They graciously drafted different ideas for me, and what they produced was all so gorgeous and full of joy."

I created a sample menu using some of the gorgeous watercolor printables from Angie Makes in the Silhouette Design Store (Flower Laurel and Flower Bunch) and the Grassy Meadow and Jess fonts. Once I had tucked the menu into the napkin, I secured the bunch with a simple bow of navy satin ribbon after adding my metal etched place card.

Part of the A-type personality in me is to have everything labelled and organized. Place cards are an excellent, yet easy way to identify items or organize where things (or people) go. Here is how to make place cards with your Cricut.

Perhaps you have a display of items and you want to label what they are. You can use place cards to label them. Another way is to label food on a buffet. Instead of having people wonder what is in each dish, use place cards to label them.

A scoring tool is simply a tool that puts a crease on your cardstock, making it easier to fold. Previously, before I had a Cricut, I would use a bone folder. Believe me, this scoring tool on the Cricut makes it way easier.

Resize using the size tool at the top. Keep in mind that your height will be DOUBLE the size of what you want for the finished size (because you fold it in half). I wanted 3-inch square place cards and so my width is 3 inches, but my height is 6 inches.

If it's chipboard or mat board, then ScoreBoards dies expand your creativity with quick and easy cuts and scoring. The first-ever product of its kind, ScoreBoards dies produce sturdier boxes, pockets, holders and other ultra-versatile designs.

I had some free time with the kiddos this past weekend and with the Thanksgiving holiday this week, I thought it was time to get crafty! So Caroline and a non-participating Jack created some adorable Thanksgiving turkey place cards for our table this year.

Not only is friend Alessandra Branca a wildly talented interior designer but her every expanding Casa Branca brand offers fabrics, wallpaper, porcelains and linens for the bed and table for adding instantly chic style to your home.

I love place cards because it is always kind as a host to help people find their place as well as introduce them to new friends and reacquaint with wonderful old ones. It is also a wonderful way to accessorize and personalize a table!

I use Adobe Illustrator for all my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other fun freebies available on my blog! 2351a5e196
