Location and World

The story is set in the fictional region of Traum. In specific, the main cast reside in the Storybook Isle, a peninsula protruding from the main region of Traum. The Isle has recently been cut off from the mainland by the Proscenium- a large wall covering coast to coast, supernatural in origin. As such, all new residents arrive by boat or flight. The main story is centralized around Esprit Hall, an up-and-coming village that is set to become the capital of the Storybook Isle due to the influx of immigration. Other notable landmasses are the western isle of Dropgear, and the south-eastern island of Coral Abyss.

This world does not have a Guild- instead, our characters meet through the Stellar Theatre. This Theatre is the main cultural landmark of Esprit Hall, as well as its social epicentre. A lot of Esprit's culture revolves around the arts, both visual and performative. Their main financial exports include fabrics, paints and primitive engineering. Before the Proscenium, people from Greater Traum would visit the village to watch theatre shows.

This world used to be home to magic, but not any more. Mages, witches and magic are not accessible in the present day... Apparently.

Prominent Figures

Your main point of interaction will be through the Troupe's varying leaders, or Top Stars. There are five in specific:

. Pointe the Kirlia, Top Star of the Actors Troupe. She's an amicable sort, though can come off as a bit snobbish and high-strung to those unfamiliar with her. She is well-known for her portrayal of all manner of feminine roles in Theatre productions, and her psychic skills allow her to read her audience and adapt.

. Dart the Lucario, Top Star of the Actors Troupe. They're rather quiet off-stage, which serves as a nice contrast to Pointe. They're firm and resolute, with a strong sense of justice. They cover all manner of roles, male or female, and their adaptability is almost terrifying.

. Ahiru the Probobass, Top Star of the Writers Troupe. She's a maternal sort, treating all of her Troupe members like her chicks. Outside of the Theatre, she has a thriving career as a writer of romance novels aimed at older women. She also maintains the village's wildlife and foliage.

. Lục Quân the Baxcalibur, Top Star of the Writers Troupe. An icon of masculinity, and famous polyglot. He has an avid interest in world history and archaeology. He and Ahiru have been married for many decades.

. Giare the Arbok, Top Star of the Technics Troupe. A master stagehand, and rumoured former kabuki star. A dispute between he and Lục Quân back in the day has left him withdrawn and hostile. He is a man of high standards, and can come across as cold to his Troupe members. Nobody has satisfied him enough to become a Top Star like him.

Main Plot

Most group activity revolves around the Stellar Theatre- a huge, sprawling theatre hall at the heart of the village that serves both as the entertainment facility and main town hall. Stellar Theatre is gigantic, almost as if it were bigger on the inside than out, and every day it seems like new hallways and rooms are found. Most business is conducted on the main stage, and the halls and rooms directly close by. The Theatre is the properly of one Gala E'Stellar, a notorious writer and creative visionary from a long lineage of artists, with many riches to his name.

Except, Gala seems to have gone missing...

The E'Stellar family, you see, harbour an awful secret. Their great ancestor and founder of the Stellar Theatre, Apaga E'Stellar, bought about a terrible curse upon himself and his descendants. Through a bargain with a powerful mage, Apaga was given the skill of endless creativity and artistic prowess; his stories were promised to live on in fame and glory for centuries, and his family would never be without riches and fame. In return, his stories and creations would become corrupted under the light of the full moon, bringing the tales and characters to life in the form of vicious beasts. Scholars have named this phenomenon the Dream Theatre.

But magic died out centuries ago! Why is it that only now the Dream Theatres are popping up? Nobody knows- maybe it has something to do with the sudden influx of people to the Stellar Theatre. Maybe it has something to do with the Proscenium that's cut off the Storybook Isle from the mainland. Gala's disappearance may have something to do with it. It's hard to say.

The Theatre staff have split into three distinct Troupes to try and combat the threat of the Dream Theatres; the Actors, Writers and technics. Together, they combat monsters that spawn inside the Theatre and stop them from reaching the outside, as well as uncovering the mysteries behind the Theatre itself. Hopefully they'll find Gala, and put an end to this centuries-old curse.
