Class Procedures & Daily Schedule
Students are expected to be accountable and responsible for their actions, follow the rules, and show respect and kindness towards others at all times. During checkouts, students are free to search the shelves and use the online catalog and find a quiet place to dig into a great book. I enjoy using this time to connect with them individually to learn about their reading habits and interests so that I can effectively help them find that next great book. A
library class is 45 minutes long with an average of 15-20 minutes for checking out books, and an average of 20-25 minutes for instruction and student engagement.

Circulation
Non-fiction, fiction, and biographies may be checked out for a two-week period.
Students may renew a book for an additional 2 weeks if they bring it in.
Students may not checkout new books if they have overdue books, however no fines are assessed as long as the books are returned.
Overdue, lost, or damaged books:
There is no fine for overdue library books. Just return them as soon as you are able!
Lost books must be replaced or paid for by the end of the school year.
Damaged books will be repaired if possible. If, however, the book has gotten wet, sticky, ripped, chewed, or is otherwise damaged so that repair is not possible, the student’s family will be asked to pay to replace the book.
Book Challenges:
If a member of the faculty, staff, and/or parent community feels that the content of a book is controversial, questionable, or inappropriate, they are welcome to submit a “Request for re-evaluating library materials” form from the Fort Mill School District.
A committee comprised of the librarian, principal, and other members of the faculty and staff will review the book(s) and discuss.
The librarian will research other challenges made to the title and bring this information to the committee.
