Assignment I:Introduction To Media Information And Literacy

You will:

a. describe how much media and information affect communication;

b. identify the similarities and differences of media literacy, information

literacy, and technology literacy;

c. editorialize the value of being literate in media and information; and

d. shares to the class media habits, lifestyles and preferences.

A. RECORD ME! - 100 points

Starting this Saturday (September 8, 2018), record your use and interaction with media and information providers (such as internet, social media, TV, radio, newspaper, etc.). Indicate how many hours were spent engaged with each one. It does not have to be exact, and you can estimate the number of hours you spend on this until September 14, 2018 (Friday).

The best part is this, you have to selfie or ask someone to take a picture of you while using various forms of media and caption how many minutes (hours) did you use that kind of platform for that span of days (Be creative - you can add hugot lines or whatever you want to your pictures)

B. UNLOCK my Definition! - 100 points

Answer the questions above through a meme of yours (I mean it - YOUR OWN MEME) or a minimalist hugot line (search for DAMNSH8T page in Facebook for your reference) that will communicate to audience what is the difference of the four (4) different terms.

C. BEFORE AND AFTER - 100 points

Create a Before and After (collaged picture) post of your picture depicting your understanding of MIL after these catch-up activities. You may add meme lines or just caption it.

Create an Infographic with the topic Timeline of Exposure to Traditional/ New media (Transition of Traditional Media to New Media)

Assignment III: Information Literacy

ATTN: This is a Group Project!

Create a blog/ vlog of one of the tourist spots in Ilocos Norte. Make sure to include the following:

1. Place/ Location/ Destination

2. Activity/ Schedule

3. Best time to visit/ Length of vacation

4. Transportation (type, budget, schedule, and among others)

5. Accommodation (type, budget, schedule, and among others)

6. Food (type, budget, schedule, and among others)

7. Things to bring/ Reminders

8. Other information you may need

9. Total Budget

In every answer to the data asked above, include citations and sources. We are aiming that the future generation knows:

a) when an information is needed;

b) where to locate an information;

c) evaluate an information; and

d) effectively use these information in various format.

Assignment IV: Types Of Media

Draw/ sketch an editorial cartoon on how media is affecting our everyday life.

You may use any drawing/ sketching software.

PS. If you do not have digital drawing/ sketching tools and equipment, you may draw/ sketch it in a clean sheet of A4 paper. After that, you may scan it and enhance your output with Photoshop, etc.
